Stopped in on a whim after driving bye for several years and never stopping. Since then, I have stopped in about a dozen times and decided that after many consistent good times, great food and service it was time to leave a shining review. It was hot last week and sometimes I crave a pilsner on such days to quench my thrust after a afternoon of boating up on Candlewood and theirs was just awesome. Live music cover band playing drew a large crowd. Nice outside dining/drinking section with a clean and well maintained inside area, all on a lot where I hunted lighting bugs as a kid. The service was a pure 10, all orders and instructions followed to a tee, very attentive wait staff too. We had a tasty soft pretzel and lobster toco which went well with that beer and split a smoked brisket sandwich which was also very good. It's over 21 and no dogs. So it's perfect spot not to worry if you are allergic to either kids, hounds or both. It's traditional music venue kinda house rules. I live in Boston and you won't find one "live music" establishment that allows under 21 or Fido to be in the audience, at the bar or on the premises. I embrace that logic as smart, safe and liability limiting. Nice job! I'm really well past the point of wanting to have to deal with kids running around while I'm listing to a cover of, "You Shook Me All Night Lol" in a room full of people drinking IPAs. Over all, I highly recommend stopping in. My GF had a IPA that I sampled and it was really tasty not overly hoppy with a hint of citrus. Only down side was once music started, it was acoustically perhaps not the greatest for sound in some seating locations under the metal roof and you might have some issue in conversation. So if you are an audiophile you might not be overwhelmed. Aside from...
Read moreHousatonic River Brewing, or as it is better know, "HRB", provides something that the New Milford area did not have for a very long time - a fun, exciting place to meet and sample great beers. The brewer Steve has been making delicious beer for several years now, and as time goes on, the beers just seem to get better and better. In addition, Dave the owner has transformed the beer garden in the premier live music spot in town. Everything from country to bluegrass to rock n roll (and everything in-between), you will find it all at HRB. A rotating group of food trucks provide delicious snacks and dinners. The beer garden also has firepits (great for these chilly evenings). Cornhole is the second-most popular activity at HRB - of course, sampling the beer is the number one activity! C'mon down - you will not be...
Read moreHousatonic River Brewing is a phenomenal spot that in recent months has added a full bar and now a full kitchen making it a triple threat when you factor in its fantastic rotation of live music.
As a venue, as a hang out spot and as an eating and drinking establishment, HRB has stepped its game up considerably in the last year and through local events, friends playing live music there and the friendliness and support of the owners and staff, my wife and I have found ourselves there quite a lot lately and we're very happy that's the case.
Had the chance to try the food recently and am glad to report that it's delicious. Excited to see what they come up with now they have a new smoker!
Whether it's a local event, live music or a friends' hang out - HRB is one of the best places in town...
