Main Moon — Restaurant in New Milford

I’ve only been in New Milford for a short while and many long-time residents have said Main Moon is the “best” local spot for Chinese food. After trying take-out from them this weekend, the food wasn’t “bad,” but I’m not sure it deserves to be called “the best.”

I can’t remember the exact cost of the order, but a friend and I ordered online and Main Moon seems underpriced. I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein and Chicken & Pork Dumplings and even ordering the smaller options, the portions were more than ample.

In terms of taste, I wasn’t a big fan of the dumplings. The casing felt a little too chewy for my liking, and the dipping sauce lacked flavor—it just felt like packaged soy sauce in a plastic container.

To me, the lo-mein was well cooked, but felt greasy. I was disappointed to find a puddle of the marinade they used sitting at the bottom of my takeout container.

Personally, while my food was by no means “bad,” I think I’d rather try more takeout options before labeling Main Moon...

I don’t usually write reviews but I must say this is the best Chineese spot in town! Food is always fresh and tastes amazing, service is on point and the guys there are super chill. You can taste the hard work and love in their food. I even have friends from out of town that visit specifically asking if we can grab takeout from them! Prices are fair. But be careful because it’s happened to me, make sure it’s MainMoon from Kent road. There’s another one in town that will take their customers and pretend they’re them, and they’re HORRIBLE. Make no mistake, there are a bunch of Main Moons (Brookfield, Main Street in New Milford, etc), but there is only one GOOD Main Moon, this one! We order from them about once a week, he always recognizes me (he knows we want the veggie fried rice with no onions), and he ALWAYS gets the order right, not something I can say about any other place I order from! We do it contact-less, he plunks it right into the trunk, no issues. And the food is excellent! I highly recommend the fried tofu in brown sauce and the fried rice! Good portion size, we always have left overs and the price is quite reasonable....
