So definitely not my choice for a bar but I'm better off knowing this place exists. Similar to most bars in New Orleans, I could've sworn I've been here before. Something about the patio seems really familiar? Glitch in the matrix, I don't know. So if you know me, karaoke and I do not mix. I've performed a total of 3 times in public in my life, and maybe 6 times period. It's just bad, and it takes an amount of alcohol I'm just not comfortable consuming in public. So how did I end up at a bar that exclusively does karaoke? Someone's birthday, as the DD no less. Still had a hella good time. The regulars got the party going early, then turned it up when the crowd got warmed up. Solo Linkin Park, WAP by the DJ and bouncer, Radiohead by a cowboy?! Props all around, we had a blast. My friend got to relive her early days with backup singers. Classic NOLA. Good basic bar food, lots of alcohol and even alt non alcoholic drinks. It's been awhile since I've hung out on St Claude, and it looks like it's coming up a little bit. There are a couple bars, restaurants, shops etc nearby worth checking out as well.

As the owner of Treme Luxury Experience, I brought a group of 10 guests to this establishment to support what I believed was a local, community-minded small business. Unfortunately, what we encountered was a completely unprofessional and disrespectful situation at the door. The security guard, David, refused to allow me inside because I didn’t have a physical ID on me, even though I presented my official tour guide license and clearly identified myself as the owner of the tour company. What made this experience even more upsetting was that I personally witnessed him allowing multiple people to enter without showing any ID at all. This felt personal, targeted, and unjustified. To be treated like this in front of my guests — guests I brought to support this business — was both embarrassing and unacceptable. I do my part to uplift and showcase New Orleans culture, but I cannot and will not support businesses that treat local professionals this way. I will never bring another tour group here again. If this is how they handle hospitality, I suggest others think twice before giving them their business.

I’m extremely disappointed by the unprofessional and unacceptable behavior I experienced after leaving an honest review about this establishment. Rather than addressing my concerns directly, someone affiliated with the business decided to have others reach out to me with threatening or intimidating messages. This kind of retaliation is not only unethical — it’s alarming. It shows a complete lack of accountability and respect for customer feedback. To make matters worse, I strongly feel there may be an underlying issue of racism here, given how aggressively I was targeted simply for speaking my truth. No one should feel unsafe or harassed for sharing their honest experience. This establishment needs to take a hard look at how it treats people, especially those from diverse backgrounds. I would never recommend anyone support a place that resorts to intimidation instead of integrity.

This bar was once great. I used to stop in and bring my dog in for treats. The people behind the bar were very kind and liked my dog. I enjoyed spending 10 bucks a day there. Plus, any time I had friends in town, we would stop in for karaoke. I did my bachelor party there. Anyway, in November of 2023, my friend was coming to meet us for a drink. She had her expired California Driver's License, along with the paperwork that explained that her driver's license was on the way. That was not good enough for the ID checker who had come on duty since I had gone in. I came in and pointed out that she was obviously in her 30s, and he talked to me like I was not someone who had brought in a couple thousand dollars worth of business over the last year. So, I stopped going to this bar. I would have never weighed in, except that this person has evidently taken control of this bar.

They have a sign posted up about how they are a jerk and enjoy being a jerk and will make up rules as they choose. I understanding having to card people, but if someone has an expired ID plus the paperwork to prove this is their ID, I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with that, other than that they don't want their place of business to make money. They also have something on the sign about making arbitrary rules. I am not a fan of being unfair for no reason. If you like Karaoke, there is Cat's Meow in the Quarter, and a number of other places that do Karaoke on other nights. So after months of my dog avoiding a longer walk due to hot weather, we walked in the evening and caught this pathetic sign.

If you're a tourist, this place is no longer an authentic place to have fun in New Orleans. It's a place run by a very sad person who will never have more power than telling someone their ID is not good enough to go into a Karaoke bar. But they're a really sassy dictator about it! If you are going to go there, make sure you get there before like 8 or 9. Whenever this sad sack in the sign shows up.

Incidentally, I think it is worth mentioning that I was in there a few months earlier, and a different bouncer (allegedly the wife of the owner) wouldn't let my wife in. She had forgotten her ID and did not have the LA Wallet App on her phone. The bouncer simply said, I'm sorry, we had a problem and we really can't let you in. My wife totally understood and just sent me a text. When I got out, the bartenders mentioned that I was a regular and clearly well over 21 (40). At that point she was willing to let my wife in, but I had just been grabbing a drink while she was running an errand. All of that is normal. Talking to people disrespectfully for no reason, and then celebrating that in a sign seems pretty silly to me. Anyway, maybe they are thriving on the tourist trade. I'm sad to say, I will not go back there unless they change ownership and their...

Well I came there to sing a song or to sing do karaoke. This was my second time coming there. First time I had a wonderful time. Great atmosphere. Last night live band for karaoke and the one that was hosting the people to get up on stage who was looking like princess Leia is an a** he made me wait over 3 hours. I still did not get up to sing then I paid $20. To skip the line so they say and he still made me wait with over six seven people me Then I said you know what let me go back and get my money. I went back and got my $20 back and he had the nerve to tell me I was being rude. You were being rude because you didn't even let me get up. I've been in there since 9:45. It was hardly nobody in there and then it's crowded and I still have not got up to sing. So I'm feeling some type of way. So I will not be coming on any live band night ever again karaoke and plus they hardly had enough songs that we could work with anyway. So then I don't have a choice of any songs that I would like to do doing what's on the list and still couldn't get up to sing. So I'm done. They will never see me on a karaoke live night again and make it so bad. I sing in the band. I wanted to jam with them but princess Leia was acting very funny and just didn't want to let me up or playing favoritism of who we want to let up. That's what it look like to me which is wrong...

Kajun's is a fun and interesting place.

After a recent event, several of us headed here for the after party. While it isn't in an area I normally frequent, I had a great time and hope to come back.

Kajun's has an extensive karaoke song selection. While I was there, I unfortunately didn't drink enough to wow the crowd with my rendition of Lil Wayne's "Go DJ'. Lucky for me, I did get to hear many different types of songs, sung in many different ways, some that I didn't even know were possible. Like most karaoke themed bars, some of the singers were downright awful, but others bordered on professional singers. Regardless of who was singing, it was always fun.

Despite the moderate crowd when we went, service was friendly and prompt. I can definitely see myself returning the next time I am in the area.

That would have been the end of my review and I would have just rated it as good. But then in preparation for my review, I looked on their website.

Apparently Kajun's has an internet connected jukebox where you can pay for, and play songs from your phone. Holy hell Kajun's! That is awesome. You just made my day with that bit of knowledge. Then I noticed they also use an app where I can view and pay my tab via my phone. Amazing. They definitely deserve extra points for utilizing technology in...
