I’m not surprised… TikTok lied. It’s about the views yall!
Second bad restaurant out of 10 during the New Orleans visit. The other half wanted a balcony restaurant on bourbon st. Why Not?…
The gentleman who greeted us at the door was great. So was our waiter. George was honest and tried his best in a place setup for failure. I felt bad that when I pointed the rooftop dehumidifiers to my other half and George was fussing with the machine for about 5 minutes to turn it on. I got hit with a blast of moldy smelling air OUTSIDE ON A ROOFTOP.
Had a featured drink (I’m sorry the bad experience made me forgot the details) it was a variant of a rum sour. Along with a blue moon beer. Now I’m born and raised in Brooklyn, NY plus I party with weirdos (points if you know the song) I know that hipster beer way too well. I know beer way tooo well. I know hospitality of both an operational and CS level that it saddens me when a minority owned business comes to the plate and does bad on something so simple I literally want to donate my time. Btw this isn’t a minority owned business. I came here as a patron not a volunteer advisor. The beer was barely cold and had a flat taste…. Issue #1 -well #2 but I can live with the dehumidifier.
George took it back to the bartender. I recommend pulling from a separate well on a different keg. Tell me why the “manager” came out with a slightly colder mug. As soon as my lips touched the beer with the cautious sip. I just said nope/ the manager in a defensive matter said she placed it in a frozen mug…… Please let me know if I’m wrong especially since this was a field I worked in. If there is a variance in temperature for 2 surfaces it will equalize to some extent. This was d——mn near 60 degree beer. Slightly colder. If the keg is pushing warm beer then that’s a problem. Chilling a mug won’t change the stale flat taste and will barely change the temperature.
Issue #2. THIS MADE ME ASK FOR THE BILL AND HALTED THE SERVICE ALL TOGETHER. After the blackened alligator bites (needed more remolaude) and being advised, I had a small plate of bbq shrimp. I was enjoying these offering my partner one. I’m am extremely glad it wasn’t accepted on the matter of being full. I bit into shrimp #3 I picked up the taste of ammonia and regurgitated it immediately before touching the back of my throat. This was bad shrimp. BAD SEAFOOD BUILDS UP AMMONIA AND CAN SEND YOU TO THE HOSPITAL FOR WEEKS DEPENDING ON SEVERITY. THIS GOES FOR ANYWHERE. ITS A SHARP SOUR NOTE WITHIN THE MEAT.
I didn’t mention it initially but my partner is allergic to tequila and when it was requested for the cocktail have the tequila swapped out the bartender said the drink is only available with tequila (is it premixed?) and was defensive. She said she will double up the tequila from another drink. I had to step in and said omit any tequila then even taste to make sure there was vodka only on the drink. The bartender was able to accommodate. This took place before being served the bad beer.
Once I had spit out the bad shrimp. I told our waiter he was great and the best aspect of this place. I will not argue anymore I do not want to speak to the manager since lack of quality and hiding it seems to be a theme and they’re defensive about it. Just give me the bill this tip is not for the place it’s for George and left. It justifies going to Brennans even more. THERE SHOULD NOT BE A BAD DAY FOR SPOILED FOOD TO BE SERVED. DEFENSIVE STAFF AND POOR QUALITY. WHO SERVES BAD SEAFOOD IN A PLACE KNOWN FOR TOP TIER SEAFOOD. SORRY NOT EVERYONE IS DRUNK ENOUGH TO SERVE TRASH.
MAMBOS ON BURBON STREET AND EVEN OCEAN HILL WILL NEVER BE VISITED BY ME. I WOULD SAY FOR THIS PLACE TO GET SOM D—NM QUALITY CONTROL BECAUSE WHAT THEY HAVE IS NOT IT. it takes one bite of something ill prepared to ruin a vacation.
The only good was the waiter, greeter, poutine, alligator bites and oysters. The bad has made me reconsider vacation insurance
GO TO STANLEYS, MONDAYS, ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU HAVE $300 BETWEEN 2...
Read moreBefore walking in we asked the door man if there was time to order. We were told that we had more than enough time. We sat down and had our order given to our server in less than 10 minutes after sitting down. We ordered everything that we were going to have down to the dessert to make things easier for the kitchen. We had the dinning room lights FLASHED on us MULTIPLE times while we WAITED for our food. Again I really want to stress that we asked before coming in if there was time to sit down and properly have dinner.
The saddest part of all of this is that our group was made up of restaurant employees that truly understand the concept of closing down a restaurant. We purposefully asked if we had time to have dinner because we understand closing procedures and wanted to celebrate a colleagues birthday. We were assured that we did before sitting down. Every single person at that table left feeling mistreated and insulted by our first meal in New Orleans after driving 6 hours to be here.
The first thing to hit our table was our dessert that we were all allowed o watch have its ice cream melt before our actual dinner was ever on the table, we never got a simple spoon to eat our dessert till after it was already completely melted.
If your crew doesn’t want to be hospitable to paying customers during your hours of operations maybe you may be better off NOT offering your services at that time.
To however in your management team that reads this review I truly hope that you understand that there was a group of people that walked into your establishment exited for the experience that they were expecting to have and left not only disappointed but humiliated and insulted by your staff’s behavior.
We all would have understood if you weren’t willing to serve us. Offering to do so to immediately mistreat us for accepting your own offer is a great way to burn bridges and ruin your chances of having customers come back.
Please reach out if you have any questions about our experience, we all would be willing to share it with you. As long as your staff isn’t turning off the lights on us while we wait for food to leave the...
Read moreWe never did get to try any food. When we came in and sat at the bar. The bar waitress was helping my sister-in-law, asking her what she wanted to drink and took her food order and walked away, and never ask me did I want anything and did it twice to me. Took my sister-in-law drink order and walked away before I could say something then did the same thing again when my sister-in-law odered food. When we first got there, she was talking for almost ten minutes before she even came over and acknowledged us. So I said to my sister-in-law. Why don't we get up and ask for a table? So we can get better service or at least I get served. When we got up and asked the host if we could have a seat and ate. She ran up there frantically. She said that we had already put in our orders which I finally did get the drink order in but she walked away again before I could tell her what wanted to eat. But after she walked away again I was fed up with the service I was barely getting. So I thought we could just eat in the dining area. Like I said, earlier, she ran up to the front where we were told the host that we had already put our orders in for drinks and food, I never got my food ordered and I thought it was super tacky for her to be running up there acting like that when it shouldn't have been no big deal for the drinks to be brought to our table. She was acting like she was demanding that we had to only do it the way she wanted it done sitting us at the bar. So we said let's leave. She was giving us very slow service and she was very rude at the end. I called back and said something to her supervisor because she made us feel as if we were in the wrong for getting up. She was not very attentive act like she was purposely ignoring me and she also came off like she had just woke up and came to work and didn't want to be there. What a nice impression of a restaurant. Never been to the French quarters, traveled all the way from Minnesota to see bad service. 👎🏽 Never got that type of service back home. Had to come travel down from one end mississippi river to the other end of the mississippi river for someone with...
