Read moreAtmosphere was nice, and the live music really added a nice touch of New Orleans flavor. However, the food was definitely lacking. I ordered a Shrimp Po Boy. The menu said it was plentiful with shrimp, tomatoes, lettuce and sliced red onion and special sauce. When I got it, it was a dry roll 9 in roll with less than 10 shrimp and less than 2 Tbsp of sauce. When I returned to the counter to ask for the sliced red onion that was supposed to be on the sandwich, I was told they made a mistake on the menu board. No onion. I was really surprised that they didn't offer to make it right, by getting me some of the red onion since other food choices offered the onion too. It would have been good business practices, (since onion makes this sandwich, and I love it) especially since they admitted to a mistake. Not much sauce either so, they told me to just grab a packet of mayonnaise on the counter. The tomato slices were extremely thin, but lots of lettuce. Couldn't taste the shrimp really, and I kinda felt I was eating a lettuce sandwich. I also ordered and paid for a soda, after which I was told they were out of. I felt they figured I was a tourist and they didn't expect to see me again. They are true about that! I am highly disappointed in the quality and service here. Priced higher than usual, but it was Bourbon St. so ...I get it. Very very cramped outside seating, with no indoor space. Unless you absolutely need something to eat, and this place is the only choice, I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. Unusual for me to visit a place that scores this low for me!...
Read moreOverall, the atmosphere was the best part of our experience at the Bourbon Street Cafe Beignet. The live music was amazing. Cafe service was slower than normal for the area, but the bar was fast and efficient. There was a very long line for the cafe, which was not helping matters, I'm sure. The food was okay - we only waited about 10-15 minutes once our orders for table service were in. However, we were less than impressed with the food itself. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, a Belgian waffle, and an order of chocolate drizzled beignets. The beignets were (by leaps and bounds) the best of what we ordered (but not as good as Café du Monde). They were warm and delicious. As for the rest... it was not what we had come to expect of food in New Orleans. We did not order egg on our breakfast sandwich, so it was bacon and cheese on a croissant. The croissant was good, but the rest was questionable... It seemed like they just threw a handful of bacon bits on the griddle for a moment, put a slice of cheese on the croissant, and warmed everything so the cheese was slightly melted. I believe the bacon may have also been undercooked or something because I was sick when we returned to the hotel. The Belgian waffle was good, but the presentation was underwhelming as it was 4 grapes and 2 pieces of melon under a plain, slightly warm waffle. The syrup was also in a cup under the waffle. It definitely seemed like staff was overwhelmed and was (literally) throwing things together quickly. Overall, the meal was just OK. Hopefully that is not typical for this location as it...
