We had a reservation for 2 PM and we showed up on time. We were seated immediately which was great! Everything after that went downhill. It took quite some time to even be greeted by our server. However, when she arrived she was pleasant. We put in our appetizer order for gumbo and crab claws. It took 20 minutes to receive it. The claws were good but the gumbo was mostly juice. For the price I paid, I expected more. The server came back and took our order. We ordered the Cajun Crawfish Pasta with cornbread muffins. After a while, we started noticing people seated after us receive their meals. There was also a table with a large group that kept going back to the kitchen getting food. They had a little girl all the servers kept passing around, so maybe it was a family member or co-worker. They were eating when when arrived and had someone show up maybe 30 minutes into our visit. Someone from the table went to the back to get her and her child some food. The time now is like 3:35 PM!!! Our server hadn't been to the table to check on us at all. Finally, I asked someone to go find our server. Someone else came back saying she is going to check on your food. WOW!! After all that time, you are just now checking on it?!! A table of two, just like mine, that came after us received their food and was leaving by now. The server brings the food around 3:40 PM, sits it on the table and walks off. At this point, I'm not even hungry because I'm so irritated. The server walks by and I asked her did the kitchen forget our food. She started talking about how on Sunday it is slower because of brunch. I point out the tables that have come and gone. She says they have different stations and blah blah blah. That has nothing to do with your customers. There should be a system in place on busier days. She knew I was upset and apologized. She disappears again and when she finally comes back, I asked for the check and to go boxes. I tasted a little of the pasta and catfish; it was ok. I sat there for a while thinking she was coming to get my card to pay. I just so happen to be reviewing my receipt and it says to pay from the receipt using a barcode. That upset me even more because why didn't she say that instead of dropping off the receipt and then leaving??!! I don't know if it was the server's fault for not checking on our food or the kitchen who didn't prepare it. The restaurant has a good vibe though. Maybe it was a bad day but I won't be returning to test that theory. It was by far the worst experience we had in...
Read moreA very honest review! The food was PHENOMENAL and the environment was nice. However, the service could be MUCH better.
Food: I ordered the crawfish shrimp pasta and I absolutely loved the sauce. It was creamy and so flavorful. The crawfish were cooked to perfection. The pasta and sauce was 10/10. The catfish that were on top of the pasta was good, but it tasted like it may have been fried in old grease or something. Catfish got a 7.5/10. The pasta itself was so good that I didn’t care that the catfish wasn’t the best catfish I’ve ever had.
Service: I’ll start with the good. We ended up sitting at the bar and our server was Marlon, who was phenomenal and very attentive. The drinks were amazing and he was attentive to our needs.
The bad: Their hostesses were not good at their jobs. The food was soo good that I’m still giving it a 5 star review, but the hostesses at the stand were very rude and short. I came here on a Friday around 1pm (Memorial Day weekend). At first I was told that they take reservations and walk-Ins but they were unable to add me to the waitlist and the current wait was 1.5 hours. I was also told that the bar was first come first served. I waited for about 20 minutes outside then I stood inside to keep an eye on the bar and then I was told that there isn’t a waiting space in doors and that I’d have to stand outside. The hostess who was pregnant then asked if I was waiting for a table and told me it would be a 1 hour wait and put me on the waitlist. The two hostesses were behaving as if I was a nuisance.
While I waited outside, I witnessed the hostesses locking the front door so that customers could not get inside. It seemed as if they wanted to stop new customers from coming in and requesting a table. Then after we were finally seated (after a seat opened up at the bar), I witnessed the hostesses continuing to lock the front door and even roping off the front door while a man was standing there at the entrance - he ended up cornered.
Despite the poor job of the hostesses, the food was so good it made me forget all that but I always want to give an honest review.
Ambiance: The place was very clean and the ambiance was nice. The music was loud so keep that in mind if you anticipate having a conversation...
Read moreThere is a lot to say about my experience at Morrow’s. My adult son and I arrived at 5:45 on a Wednesday night. I had spent time on the web site and did not see where we could book a table. When we arrived, we were told that we would have to sit at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation. I told the hostess that no where on their web site did I see that I could reserve a table. So we sat at the bar. I have rarely spent $110 while sitting at a bar for dinner. There were menus available, but our server/ bartender wanted us to use the QR code to bring up the menu on our phone. This isn’t easy as we live in Sweden and don’t have American cell service. The man next to me at the bar gave me his menu. We ordered some drinks and appetizers to begin with. I ordered a half dozen raw oysters. When they arrived I was impressed at how big and beautiful they were. But there was no horseradish, lemon or cocktail sauce. It was difficult and time consuming to get our server (Cedric?) to bring those items. We were finally able to order our main courses. I got the captain’s platter with red beans and rice and my son got the fried chicken with red beans and rice and cornbread. The captain’s platter comes with fried fish, shrimp and oysters. Once again, I asked for cocktail sauce. The server completely forgot about me and my food was practically cold when I finally got the sauce after I reminded him a second time. He never checked in with me throughout the meal and I was feeling really bad that he seemed to be actively ignoring me. I was nice and friendly so I don’t know what I could have done to make him treat me so poorly. It was a Wednesday evening crowd, so I can’t imagine he was overwhelmed with the service. I had a lot of food left over and once again was faced with getting his attention for a to go box. The food was really good except for the fact that dishes were served incomplete. The atmosphere was festive and a bit loud. I’m sure sitting at a table would have helped. The service was really poor. The worst I’ve experienced in New Orleans, especially for a fairly expensive meal. I’m disappointed that our last meal in New Orleans was...
