An Unfortunate cliche'. No dress code was posted anywhere outside or on the menu. It was about 11:25 and we approached the hostess stand only to be told we must have a reservation, after giving us a snooty head to toe smirk. There were plenty of visibly empty tables we could see, so we walked out. I made a reservation through open table on the sidewalk, to find out that there was plenty of availability at 12:45, so I reserved a table for 2. We returned to the hostess stand and a different hostess confirmed our reservation, but was visibly confused and she also gave us the head to toe snooty once-over. She wandered through the dining room only to return with who must have been some kind of manager who was grumbling and saying behind the computer screen, "I thought I had blocked that off." We waited for several more minutes while they were up & down stairs. Here comes a girl carrying an arm chair down the steps to seat us barely inside the restaurant next to a service station. We sat again for several minutes before anyone came to our table. I noticed Wealthy old white men in suit coats and oversized starched white collared shirts filled about every table, while every server was a person of color, except for the long blonde haired cocktail waitress who is all bubbly when delivering drinks to her ogling patrons. She also gave us that head to toe appalling look when we arrived to be seated. We just wanted to have a nice lunch so we stopped in from touring the French Quarter in our jeans & nice T shirts, It felt as though they purposely were attempting to make us feel uncomfortable. Two waitresses would hastily go by our table saying I'll be with you, and I can handle 'this' along with the other people." Every interaction the staff had with us held a demeaning tone. The manager in his Ill-tailored grey suit and $60 brown scuffed shoes tried to make nice very late on, after a large group left by quickly passing by our table and making some consoling comment. The sirloin steak burger was good. The Cuban sandwich tasted fine but was cold when it was delivered to the table. The fries were great. In the middle of lunch an entire group of ladies dressed in Christmas Costumes invaded the restaurant, made a lot of noise & commotion, hugging up on the wealthy white men and just as abruptly left to trudge down the street. When our waitress Felicia brought the final bill, she laid it on the table, did not make eye contact or say anything (like thank you) and went on. I left a 28% tip. Shame on you Rib Room for your pious front facing staff. Rude-judgemental-Incompetent, and what I find worse is they perpetuate the template of upper crust ruling society, while all the people of color are only there to serve them. PS: I am a 64 year old professionally employed...
Read moreWe ate at Rib Room while we stayed at the Omni. We made reservations and were seated properly. Renee was our waitress, Was not very impressed with her. She never checked on us after the appetizer. We had to go to the bar several times to get our own drinks. It was 57 minutes from the time of our appetizer to the time our food was on the table. Some people who were seated after us around us got their food before we got ours. I had to ask other servers to take our empty appetizer plates away and we took our own drink glasses to the bar. She defiantly did not make our experience satisfying. She was pretty horrible, messed up our tickets as well at the end. But now on to the good stuff the food. The bread was toasted and was fresh. Love the bread. Only con besides the waitress is that they donât have a crumb sweeper and the bread wasnât cut all the way through, thus leaving the table full of crumbs. Appetizers were turtle soup and gumbo. The turtle soup was actually amazing. Itâs like a mix of gumbo and chili with extra pizzazz! The gumbo was classic New Orleans gumbo. Drinks were made to order and were good! For dinner we got : grilled prime rib with grilled asparagus and a side of fries. Grilled prime rib and loaded mashed potatoes. Swordfish with green onions and roasted tomatoes and rice pilaf. The steaks were cooked to our liking and were very delicious. All the steaks down in New Orleans so far have been very well seasoned and flavored. The fries were very seasoned and the side of sweet and savory BBQ sauce was delicious. The asparagus was grilled perfectly. The loaded mashed potatoes were incredible. The house fish special was sword fish and it was just adequate, defiantly could have been marinated less. I expected more from this restaurant it started off at 4 stars but at the end of the day the waitress makes or breaks the whole experience and she moved it...

Server in the bar was anxious for shift change and had attitude when we mentioned we would have a full course meal at the high top.. after feeling her energy- we put our name on the wait list to be served by a dining room server. My appetizer did not come out with my significant other's, once brought to the servers attention- we could tell he forgot to put it in. I ordered a beer at this time as well since he would be going back to the POS. 8-10 minutes later my app is out and my beer is not. Remind server about beer, comes out with no head (on a rather hoppy amber I normally drink- this isn't normal unless it sat at the bar - forgotten.) Entre finally arrived, I can tell the larger 13oz steak I ordered is on my SO's plate with her sides and her 10oz steak is on my plate with my sides- I mention to the server, I think our prime ribs are switched, she got a 10oz, I got a 13oz. He said it's the way it should be. I cut into my prime rib, it's medium well ( what my gf ordered). She cuts into hers, medium rare (what I ordered). I call the waiter over to replate our meals with the proper sides. Food comes back replated- now both baked potatoes are cold. Finish our mediocre $120 dinner, and the server asks if we are ready for the check.... my gfs meal came with a dessert so we remind the server about her dessert, he says of course- it's on the way... needless to say- for a rather slow night, it seems they could not do anything right. The prime rib...
