There is an old lady that works there that was very intrusive and had no sense of urgency. When I walked in with my boyfriend there was customer ahead of us taking her time to make her order, she didn’t seem Hispanic nor did she spoke Spanish which I completely understand why she was taking her time to figure out what she wanted to order. So approached the older lady that wasn’t doing anything,I figure since I was very hungry I could start of with a smoothie ( which I have done in the past with no issue) she told me I had to wait my turn, to which I was surprised,( this restaurant is never consistent with how they do stuff) but I could also tell she wanted to be unbothered with me. To which I mentioned I was very hungry and didn’t have an issue in the past with ordering a smoothie, but noticing her nonchalant attitude I just walk away and went back to the line, when it was my turn she finally yelled out what I wanted, to which I was done with her and decided to ignore her, but she yelled again and again until I finally told her I was no longer interested in a smoothie since I was getting my food already. She was got very disrespectful, attacking my character, meddling in my personal business with my boyfriend asking him why he was with me, if he really liked me and if he did- why did he like my character, what did he do to me or didn’t do, asking him why was he with me and so much more that I can’t remember. I immediately took action and decided to walked out, cancel my order. I couldn’t handle much of her disrespect to which I did reply that she needed to mind her business.
My first impression of this place was great but as I have kept coming on and off I have noticed these Spanish woman are very disrespectful with other...
Read morePlace looks dirty. Looks very dilapidated. Food is mid, I’ve tried a variety of their food already. Rice is not tasteful, alcapurrias are drenched in oil and barely any meat plus 7 out 10 times I’ve gotten them they were almost completely burnt, mofongo is just bad very chewy doesn’t seem fresh, meat is almost completely just grease, empanadas could break a tooth. I do like their beans at times tho. That younger lady who usually serves the food is nice. But that old lady at the register is rude to the point where she not only embarrasses herself but she embarrasses the name of the company as well as the owner. Esa vieja no sabe cuándo cerrar su boca de tanta mierda que se come. She is very unprofessional and quite frankly have no idea who thought she could work as a customer service cashier with her snotty self. Funny thing is that the owner doesn’t have enough balls to say something to her and just lets her be rude to his customers. Anyways, not going back but if you do go I suggest you get a piña colada! Heard from others that the bar tender is extra nice if you know...
Read moreA native of Tampa I love Cuban food and was very pleased to find this tiny little spot in a strip mall near the river.
The interior is just a few tables and locals filled the seats at the bar. We were treated kindly and respectfully. The food was fresh and full of flavor. I am always impressed when there are a few items that I don't know what they are. It's always a treat to try something new.
I will be stopping in regularly when I am in that area. This is not a fancy spot to go out for dinner, but a great spot for some real Cuban food and good service. Prices were very good
After we ate, we walked over the river to Sims Park enjoying our cafe con leche. Can make for a nice relaxing meal with a cute area to walk after or before dinning. It would be easy to carry some of this food to the park also if you wished to eat over there. Good options.
If I lived closer, I would absolutely be carrying this home for dinner at least...
