While in the middle of a kitchen remodel, my Project Manager who lives in New Port Richey asked if I like a great burger. He told me about SteamWorks Pub in downtown NPR off Main Street and I’m glad he did.
My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon and I was impressed with how much of a cool vibe downtown NPR has with lots of restaurants, shops & places to hang out. It’s come a long way in terms of awesome factor since the place I visited 22 years ago when I first moved to the Tampa Bay Area.
When we walked in SteamWorks is a cozy pub and everyone who worked there was very friendly.
The menu is fun to read with creative and cool burger and other Gastropub type options. You could tell the chefs have fun with what they make and enjoy it.
They had an appetizer special that day of deep-fried deviled eggs with bacon that were really unique. Tasty although I don’t know if I’d get them again since I don’t think deviled eggs need to be deep fried 😂
I had every intention of getting a burger, but when I read their Rib description, I couldn’t resist. Half rack of ribs aged with local legend Pappa Gump rub 72hrs slow roasted, smothered in Pappa Gump BBQ Sauce
Besides Eriq wanted to order the J. Cash burger (Burger stuffed with cheddar cheese, topped with pulled pork, maple bacon, onion straws, BBQ sauce) I wanted to order and I knew he would give me a couple bites.
Both Entrees were delicious. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, the tater tots that came with were crispy goodness too. And that Burger was stellar!
Just a few high top tables inside but you can eat at the bar or they have some outside tables. And I am coming back to try more burgers and their House old fashion smoked is the perfect...

Best Martinis on Main, best new Bar on Main, it used to be The Social but now this the spot! It’s packed any day of the week, and any time, day or night. Always buzzin’, food and drinks are fire!
I recommend a twist on the old fashioned, whatever they have in season, Scott can make anything! During fall he made the BEST pumpkin spice old fashioned and it was a game changer. Same with the martinis, I love the craftsmanship Scott comes up with for these awesomely decorated and delicious martinis. Last time I was there he was doing Girl Scout cookies themed martinis! As far as the menu, everything is above and beyond. Even if you just get a grilled cheese with tots, you really can’t go wrong. I’m updating this review from 10 months ago to let people know this is still the best place to go on main street for a night out. It’s still buzzin and packed even on week nights but soooo worth it! They’re really wholesome people and I’ve done my fair share of dumb crap here lol and they’ve been super lenient with me, thank you for that times have been hard since the hurricanes, that’s no excuse but still. I appreciate the understanding and helpfulness. I’ll be back soon as my bday is on the 9th of February 😉 (I did end up coming back for my birthday not only in 2024 but 2025!) no regrets, as someone this year paid for everyone’s bill!
Love ya Scott and Tara and love the lore/backstory of how this all began. Scott used to work at Fitzgeralds which is another one of my go tos. I won’t go anywhere besides these two places. Love...
Read moreRead to the end, important information. 9/29/24 was my first time here. After 3 days of picking up from the aftermath of Helene without power and 3 days of living off of sandwiches, I told my friend who has been helping me out, let's go get a hot meal.
We really didn't know where we wanted to go. Another friend suggested Steamworks along with some other places. I have never been to Steamworks before and just wanted a hot meal and a little AC so Steamworks it is.
We ordered the Hellfire Burger and the ribs , 5 stars for both. We spoke with several of my neighbors (whom I've never met before). Everyone in Zone A are picking up the pieces , putting their belongings on the curb, and trying to dry their homes in extremely high humidity without power , fans, or AC.
Here is the kicker. When I asked for the check, Charlie, who I have known since the Widows days, mumbled something to me. I asked him what he said, and he said I would know when I looked at the check. I looked at the check and was in shock. I had no idea that the local owners put a fund together to take donations to pay for meals of those affected by the storm. It put tears in our eyes , I'm not even going to lie about it.
Thank You Steamworks, Charlie, and those that chipped in. Such a small thing is such an awesome thing for those of us who are going through what the thousands of us are at this time.
Now, this part you may not believe. We caught Charlie smiling, if you know you know. Hi Charlie, and thank you Steamworks we will...
