809 — Restaurant in New York

This resturant and bar/lounge is wonderful! I planned my boyfriends birthday dinner here and all i can say is wow! A resturant and a place to party when ur done right up stairs...u cant beat that! It started off with the kindness and excellent customer services from Marisol. She met with me discussed decorating options, menu options. She showed me around the space and upstairs to the lounge. She kept in touch with me throughout the process leading up to the day. The owners add a very personal touch by being there with the costumers. The food was delicious no one in my party complained everyone just raved about the place. We all loved the atmosphere. Its so hard to find a place that will let u bring more then just one balloon lol they let me actually decorate a whole space! As long as it did not interfere with any other customers Time there. 809 is now one of my favorite places to go! Me and my friends will be back to try the brunch and to party up stairs! Worse treatment I have ever receive in a restaurant. The manager(owners son) is a despicable person. He was called to our table because of misleading information in a groupon a purchase. He was rude from the beginning. It got to a point were I had to tell him to please back off because he was talking to load (my kids were sitting right next to me but obviously he didn't care says a lot about this guy) and getting to close to me and he just said I don't care you can leave if you want!!!! This guy is obnoxious, rude, violent. It was the worse experience I had ever had in any restaurant. What a big disappointment . I will give them a 0 star if that was available. Update: so about a couple of days after I posted this review, a good review about the manager been "helpful and so nice" came up in the Groupon website but somehow my review which was written before never made there. I'm wondering were does Groupon get their reviews from. It's so disappointing to see websites and businesses fabricate reviews to try and hide real customers...

Wow this was expensive and not very good (my boyfriend liked his dishes, but mine were not very good.) Without a groupon, I can't imagine ever paying full price.

Additional stars are given because the service was quite good.

Borscht was meh. My bf had the pancake with caviar and said it was okay.

I had the chicken for the main course and really didn't like it. It was wayyyyyy too heavy plus too breaded. I was missing a lot of the chicken. But overall, it was intensely buttery, it was almost inedible (and this is someone who really, likes butter.)

My bf had the beef stroganoff and said it was very good. If you're going to eat a main dish, get that. He tried both (as did I) and that was the salvageable dish for the entire night.

For dessert I had cheesecake and my boyfriend had some chocolate wonder. They were okay, again.

I'm not sure whether it was because we were there at 10 and things were wrapping up, but I can't imagine going back here unless someone Russian recommended a very specific dish, tried it first, and then...
