We knew the night was going downhill the minute the server came to our table to take our order. She seemed upset merely at the fact that she had to be there, doing her job. She approached us with attitude when she asked us for our drink order and literally walked away before I could finish saying that I needed another minute to look the menu over. We finally did get our orders in after another uncomfortable interaction with our server and eventually received our appetizers. To put it plainly, the food was just BAD. The appetizer was a plate of mini plantain cups with meat and extras inside. Food that you'd reasonably expect to be hot. Well in this instance you'd be partially wrong. My gf bit into the cup to find that some pieces of meat were lukewarm and others just flat out cold. We decided against eating it after we both took one bite of one cup. We tried for several minutes to flag our server down to ask if we could swap it out, without any luck, and eventually passed the request along to anyone who would listen. Eventually news got to our server, which we expected, who approached us again to ask what the issue was, and when we explained, she rolled her eyes and walked away without saying a word, which at this point was also expected. The main course was ok, not awful but not great. The food was again just barely warm enough to consume. We never saw or heard from our server again. We finished eating what was edible and spent another 10 min trying to flag someone down for our check. The night was only made better by the one server who came by to drop off the check, asked us how our food was and attempted to address our concerns all in the 2 min interaction we had with him. Too little too late unfortunately. If you have any good taste in food or expect anything more than mediocre service, do...

this was the most horrible experience I ever had in My Life.the lady who takes reservations needs to  be trained a lil better with time management cause we noticed ppl coming in and being sat befor us and they just got there.  WiNDY said it would be 30 min wait.  ended waiting an hr to be sat down.  by this point we was starving. when we finally sat down. we orderd our drinks and food at the same time. after 45 mins passed we noticed people who sat down 30 mins after us getting there food & we still did not receive our food.  our WAITER Aura was horrible. making us wait 45 mins to even ask about our food.  once we complaind and asked for our food to be packed up to go  it came  10  mins later.  asked for a manager they said the manager wasn't in today. at no time did they mention JOE . I'm not sure what he would have done for us at this point but It's clear they need to work on communication and service regarding the customer because at no point they tried to make our experience better.  even the guy next to us offerd us a piece of his cake on his 84th  birthday, howw kind was that. cause he saw how hungry we was.  Don't go here.  Havana Cafe has better service. even tho they food ain't as good as befor you won't ever be treated like your a no body.every one is...

WORST FOOD we've had in a long time! Indigestion and Deceptive Charges Pros: decor, music, ambiance, traditional fruit juices Cons: food, customer service

I dislike writing bad reviews but this one felt like a necessary WARNING. And it's too bad because the place is so cute with it's quaint Dominican country feel. The music is lively. That was the end of the good. The food ranged from mediocre to pretty bad. The mofongo appetizer was DRY but with too much sweet sauce on top. The guandules with coconut were just WEIRD, not coconut to be found. The white rice seemed REHEATED, the texture was off. Even the tostones were a little RAW in some spots. THE FOOD WAS NOT HOT. I only ate a few bite off each thing. We had to doggy bag most of the food but we THREW IT AWAY when we got home because my husband (with a stomach of steel) THREW UP so we didn't want to risk our kids eating it. I was lucky to just get INDIGESTION and BLOATING. They have lunch prices until 4:00pm, even though we ordered by 3:00pm and finished eating before 4:00, they still charged us dinner prices, we were OVERCHARGED $10. When I complained to the waiter, he said, "Sorry, I promise it will not happen next time" but he made no attempt to correct it. Well there will be...

This place is definitely more hyped up than it needs to be. From pictures to IG post the place looks really big and like a good time. Honestly it is not all that big and for you to dine in on a Saturday they close extremely early so everything feels rushed by the end of the night. They didn’t offer us water even though it’s tap, they give you bottle watered that you have to pay for. The table was set but we didn’t have no utensils. We received our appetizers and had to ask for utensils. When we received the entrees two of the dishes had someone’s hair in it. The chili sliders with beef were not all that it tasted really dry. They should consider having some type of sauce on the side for it. The fogoncitos are definitely recommended. The shrimp in the white sauce was not all that, it tasted more like heavy cream and butter than anything else. The food here is good if you want standard Spanish food but what makes it a bit more hype is the presentation of the food. This place could be better if they had more space and managed it better. Maybe they should make a location in dyckman it would definitely be better given the setting of different Spanish restaurants.

Overall the Food was phenomenal. Very tasty and flavorful. I had the land and sea dish with platano Maduro and an avocado on the side. The dish was very well cooked the shrimp very well made. The chimi sauce was on point. The dish my partner ordered was the Boca Chica red snapper which had a very light flavor to it. It was seasoned just enough for the flavor to penetrate the deepest parts of the white meat which was great. Not many places make great fish. This is one of them. My no.2 fried fish place in the Bronx. Overall the Food was great. The drinks we had were soursop and tamarind juice which unfortunately weren't natural but were still good. I personally didn't like that they essentially tasted like candy but it is what it is. Can't be good at everything. Our servers were also very kind and attentive. Took our orders promptly and swiftly and had a great deal of patience. For good service and good food I'd recommend this place. Overall great food great service would recommend you try at least once while your in little Italy.
