This is the place for amazing food! Do not let the word 'deli' mislead you, this is beyond sliced meat, cheese and sandwiches. The food is always fresh and delicious, we've come to Belmont every Saturday from CT for over a year enroute to family in Queens, starting as the weekly grocery run for family staying in due to Covid. We have tried every restaurant and shop in the area, see my reviews for the best and worst of the neighborhood. Mike's, Madonia Bakery and Teitel are the trifecta. Mike's food is amazing ...they beat Bobby Flay in the eggplant parm competition, and yes, they deserved to win! Anything you choose is delicious, they do not cut corners. Do yourself a favor, call ahead to order, the lines can be long! Plenty of meats and cheeses to pick from, ask for recommendations. Seasonal items like pizza rustica, homemade wine and pasta con sarde are always special treats. They have fresh prosecco on tap if you're hanging out - they have some seating inside and out, pre Covid sipping peach prosecco while waiting for our to go order was the BEST! You can order their food in single to family sized portions, we load up...family size eggplant and chicken parm with a pound of fresh ricotta is amazing (serve the ricotta cold on the plate with your hot food, it's delicious) Our favorites...Il Montone Ram special hero chicken, eggplant, prosciutto, mozzarella, onion and peppers or the Bronx Tale mortadella, mozzarella, provolone hero...amazing. Try bringing home scamortza (dried fresh mozzarella) and roasting like a marshmallow....you will never believe how good that is! Tried the pasta con sarde avail only in March...my Mom said it's second best only to her Grandmother's (so how great does that have to be, you'll never beat your favorite dish by...
Read moreI was looking for an Italian sandwich place and this one came up on Google Mike's Deli. When I got there I was greeted with a menu then I went ahead and ordered a pastrami roll with a Coke as I waited I was asked whether I wanted to pay cash or credit when I asked how much it was it was $20 I think with everything going on and these local businesses rising prices ridiculously high will drive the economy to the floor I would say stay away from this place consistent with high prices not too good of quality and overall bad experience.
Response to the owner:
I believe in fair pricing and good customer service. My comment about the prices was based on my personal experience, not an attack on your business. Instead of assuming bad intentions, a conversation would have been more productive. I wish you success, but respect goes both ways. Supporting small businesses doesn’t mean blindly accepting high prices or dismissive service. I came in as a paying customer, not an adversary. Instead of engaging in a conversation, you assumed bad intentions and responded with hostility. A business thrives not just on quality ingredients but also on how it treats its customers. I hope you reflect on this, because respect and good service are just as important as the food you serve and by the way your pastrami isn't that good at all ...very dried and...
Read moreWoof, what a meal. With places like this I can see why this area is stealing the tittle of Little Italy. I grew up with a fair number of Italian restaurants and sandwich shops near me in Bensonhurst but this place takes the cake - absolutely worth a schlep. I went with some friends on a Friday afternoon so we didn't have any seating issues - it was a little confusing that there's table service but also a counter. Once we sat down the owner came over and told us a bunch of stories - it was nice to see he cared about interacting with customers. We ordered a medium antepasto and it was delicious - every cheese and cut of meat was great. We split some eggplant parmesan at the owner's recommendation and that was delightful - perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth. I had the three tenors (on a roll - which is really a half sub, not a round) and enjoyed it. But to me what stood out was my friend ordering The Monster. You'd expect a sandwich like that to be a gimmicky mess but it was delicious. I doubt I could eat even half of one but I took a few bites of his and enjoyed it. Somehow all those meats and cheeses played together very nicely. Wash it all down with a few Peroni on tap and have a great time. I can't...
