After tasting two beers that I did not like, they told me I only get two tastes. Sorry, but they have a bunch of unknown beers, I am not risking getting a beer I can’t enjoy. Waste of a trip… never again!!
Update after their first response: Most ‘small business’ breweries and for that matter ‘small’ microbrew venues do not put a cap on tastes. Furthermore, your proposed solution is exactly what I am complaining about, I could buy your flight and find I don’t enjoy the beers, thus buying something that I don’t enjoy - that’s not what a visit to a brewery or microbrew venue is supposed to be about. I don’t like what I tried and thanks to your policy that’s all I’ll know about your beer.
I could name drop several ‘small’ breweries a reasonable distance from your establishment that are more than happy to give as many tastes as necessary for their customers to find the right beer. But, instead I’ll just point this out, your unwillingness to give a reasonable number tastes lost you my business yesterday and going forward. Plus, when I brewery hop with friends I’ll recommend those breweries instead of yours. In reality you don’t want someone like me at your establishment, you’re likely better off with someone who doesn’t know a good beer if it hit them in the face - your wit beer is nowhere near actual Belgian taste, and you amber was horrible. I’ll stick with Hoegaarden and just about any decent off the shelf amber (Alaskan Amber,...

Read moreGood vibes abound here. Bonus points for positive and queer-affirming energy from the patrons, staff, and owners. If you’re a serious beer drinker, Alewife offers a rotating cast of drafts, bottles, and cans that speak to the diverse flavors and sensations of beer in a laidback setting. On the one hand, because they frequently change offerings, some may find that the brewery is highly experimental in character, though if you’re serious about beer this is the soul of what I feel a brewery is meant to be; ever expanding, ever experimenting, bold with what’s on offer. True story: My partner who is generally against beer tried one of their aged bottles and was converted. Confused the beer for a sparkling rosé! This deserves some applause. Also deserves praise for the bands on display on Fridays and the weekend, great to see in our neighborhood. A very welcome presence in Sunnyside! Keep...
