I was in search of an Ecuadorian restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday and selected this restaurant for an late afternoon supper, party of eight . I had the seco de gallina( stewed hen with rice and sweet plantain) my husband had the Bandera, sis and dad had a Bandeja Melania, nephew had carne asada; friends had camarones al ajillo and churrasco. Everyone was completely satisfied with the taste of their dish. Flavor was good and the portions are large. The food was delicious, the service top notch. Thanks Angelo. The place is very clean and I saw they take great care of the food. We had the corviches (deep fried green plantain dough stuffed with fish or shrimp) and yucca fries appetizers and the flan was so rich, and the chocolate mousse were delicious. We drove all the way from Staten Island to Queens and had a reservation for 3pm which we were missing due to traffic. The restaurant manager called me to move the reservation to 4 pm which I thought it was so kind and considerate. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to try Ecuadorian cuisine. The owner' s son came to talk to us and he was pleasant and friendly. Definitely worth the ride. We will be back to try the caldo de salchicha. Thank you for a great...
Read moreI went to Rincón Melania yesterday with my wife, my parents, and my sister for dinner. My wife and I had been there once before and convinced my mother, a native Ecuadorian, to come try the food. We ordered the grilled octopus and bolon mixto as appetizers. Both were really great. My sister and I I enjoyed a drink similar to a margarita (forgot the name), which was also good. As an entree, my wife ordered the enecebollado de pescado (fish soup made of tuna), which she loved. I tried it and loved it too. It was filling and she brought home the leftovers. I had la bandera, which was good, but not mind blowing. The rice was great; but I thought the goat was mostly bones. I had substituted the tripe for hen, and thought that was mostly bones too. The ceviche was REALLY good. For dessert, we ordered the flan and chocolate mousse. The flan was very bland, but the chocolate mousse was great. I honestly wish I had tried the caldo de bola. We had ordered it the first time and I loved it so much. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The service is great here and they let you dance salsa :)...
Read moreJust a few blocks away from the 7 train on Queens Boulevard we stopped by this small spot on the corner and let me tell you, it's exactly what people say that the best food is found in the smaller restaurants vs the fancy big company restaurants. This place is small so if you are planning on visiting please make sure you get there early then usual because if you don't you will get stuck outside and wait for a little bit. They only have maybe 10 total tables and you literally have to wait until a table is available, but hands down the wait is soooo worth it. The music makes me feel like I'm having a family dinner in the backyard, the service was perfectly crafted as they catered us to the fullest and made each individual person in their as they were kings and queens! What a great experience it was I recommended this place to several people already and now I recommend it to you all enjoy and Bon appetit!
