Read moreThis hotel is dirt cheap compared to other lodging options in NYC. So what do you expect? Everything is NOT going to be perfect. As one of my fellow guests at this hotel has said "it is what it is". Here's what I love about this place:|| There is a gym. It's a tiny gym, but it's clean, there's a water cooler and you can either turn on the A/C or open the window...or both! There's a TV for your viewing pleasure. The equiptment is halfway decent.|| They serve coffee all day long. I can't stand these places that I pay $300+ a night for and they "stop serving cofffee at 10am" on a weekend. Are you kidding me? Not this place, and it's good! Plenty of creamer and sweetener options too.|| They serve a hot breakfast, fresh fruit, juice and have cereal and baked goods. It's nothing extravangant, but it's decent.|| The guests are nice. With the price of this hotel, you're bound to attract some riff-raff, but they are just people like you and me. Talk to them. Say good morning. Smile at them. They will be lovely right back to you..|| The housekeepers really bust their butts. I kind of get the feeling they are short staffed, so they try to keep up the best that they can. If you need something, they will bend over backwards for you. Especially...wait for it...if you are NICE to them.|| There's an ATM, bathrooms on the first floor and a computer in the kitchen at your disposal.|| You can smoke in your room if you get a smoking room. For us smokers, this is imperative. I don't want to be wandering out in Queens 1am in the morning if I want a smoke.|| The 7-11 is 24 hours and is just right around the corner. No need to cross any streets. The gentleman that runs the place is very nice and this place probably has just about everything you need....from nail clippers to their own brand of zero sugar sports drinks.|| There is some police presence there. There are traffic guards around in the morning and NYPD frequents the area often. I feel safe, I really do.|| They just got a new internet provider within the last couple of weeks, so the internet has been MUCH better. ||||Okay the bad:|| Yes, the elevator is sketchy. There is only one elevator. When it's not working, they are working to fix it. They don't want upset guests. But, it is what it is.|| The bathrooms can be a little dingy. So what? Is your bathroom perfect? What do you want for $130/night in NYC?|| The train...request a room in the back of the building near the college...it's not that bad, especially if you keep your window closed.|| Sometimes the TV doesn't work. I don't think they check the TV everytime they clean the room. Here's a tip: download stuff on your laptop or tablet and watch that.||||So there you have it. Look, if a burn on a carpet or ripped towerls are going to annoy you...then go somewhere else. But if you want a cheap, relatively clean place that is straight forward and you can smoke in, then this is your place. I've been frequenting this place every week for the entire summer (work). When I'm done with my special assignment and don't have to return to NYC every week, I am intending on gifting every housekeeper here with some cash, because they really are lovely and...
When I went to the room, I opened the door and I saw clothes, sneakers and towels everywhere and the sheets and blankets were scattered around the room.||||I was given another room and it was a mess the mattress and boxspring were placed against the wall, the bed frame was broken, bed legs were scattered, and sheets and blankets were all over the place. |||| When I went back down to the front desk, the clerk told me he would escort me to a room to make sure it was good. I said no, please cancel my reservation. He said he would cancel the room. ||||I called Priceline and the clerk told Priceline we would or cancel the reservation after he told me he would. ||||Priceline refused to cancel also saying the hotel has no cancellation policy even after explaining the hotel was in an unsatisfactory condition. They gave me a 15% coupon for an express hotel. ||||The elevator broke down twice - people had to walk up and down the stairs. They placed a big bin filled with dirty sheets to block guests from entering the elevator. ||||The clerk checked me into a room that was somewhat decent. However, these were the issues:||||The floor was not vacuumed ||||Bathroom floor had urine stains on the sides of the toilet ||||The entrance door had a bunch of in front of it ||||The remote control didn’t work and the clerk said he had to program it||||The plug in wall socket did not work||||The entrance door and bathroom doors had peeling paint all over it ||||The elevator was very slow and worn out- and had peeling paint ||||The microwave area was not clean — somebody left bagel Crumbs and debris form the morning — 10 hours ago ||||The a/c did not work well||||Flies and knats were everywhere ||||Toilet water pressure was extremely low ||||The floors in the lobby and sinking area were not clean ||||No instructions were given because the shower had to be turned on by pulling the faucet — who would of thought to do that ||||The blankets had burn holes ||||The clerk kept complaining that the maids weee not doing their job ||||As a customer that should not matter to me. ||||Room was very small and not user friendly at all. ||||There was nonstop noise from the train and traffic. ||||Wi-Fi didn’t work said internet was not working. No service at all! ||||Ac and refrigerator kept making loud humming sounds. ||||The hotel had a horrible odor it smelled bad! Really foul! ||||The picture of the hotel is different than in person. This is false advertisement. ||||Furniture in room was falling apart . ||||Toilet paper broke apart in my hands. ||||The sheets had stains on them. ||||Towels literally shredded apart while washing. ||||I lost my money because I refused to stay another night! ||||This was a horrible experience . An investigation into the hotel should be conducted by the New York City Department of Health. Priceline should be ashamed by allowing such a horrible hotel to advertise on...
Read moreI usually do not write bad reviews about any place. But the service at this place was so bad that I did not have a choice.
Let me give you some background I started out by looking for hotels near NY with easy access to train and a free parking facility. I even Double checked with the hotel to confirm parking space. When I got there the tiny space they had for parking was all full. I checked with the hotel staff to find another parking staff to which they rudely responded that the parking is first come first serve you will have to find parking else where. I asked where could I find a over night parking space (Since I am not from the location obviously) the desk clerk just points out the window. I was not sure what she meant by that, she was pointing below the train tracks. I went out to the train tracks to find parking by the hour but not over night sign. I went in the hotel again to ask if there is a different location to park the hotel clerk just pick up her cell phone and ignored me. After her cell phone call, I check back with her again to ask for another parking she rudely yells at me and this is word by work "You are not baby, I cannot hold your hand and take you". I asked if i could park behind their Days Inn sign, to which she answered "You park where ever at your own risk, we cannot guarantee it will not be towed" like she was threatening me.
I gave up on trying to find a parking spot and parked at the metered parking on the street overnight. They could have just informed me that you can park on the metered parking after certain time.
After I come back to the hotel I see 2 cars parked next to the sign I asked about.
The hotel corridors had smoky smell all over. The room over all was not bad, and I did expect the sound of the train track.
As you expect from the location it is not a bad hotel but just hospitality was the worst I have...
