2016-03-25 Home2 Suites by Hilton Manhattan View Long Island City 43rd visit to a Hilton Hotel.
Parking: Checking in was a little awkward as there was very limited parking in the street by the entrance. We had to drive around twice until we realized there is a small driveway on a little hill where you can park temporarily to check in. Parking is $30/night so make sure that's in your budget. You leave your key at the front desk and I guess they move it as necessary. They definitely need a larger parking area.
Check in: It was our first time staying at a Home2 Suites. Checking in was swift and smooth once we got the parking situation settled. Elevators were a little slow.
Room: Once we got to the room we immediately fell in love with the place. The room was fairly large, clean and bright. The bed has to be the best bed I've slept on at any Hilton hotel properties. There is a divider curtain in the room that goes between the bed and the pull out couch. A nice touch. It's touted as an extended stay hotel and by the ample closet space and room-you won't feel cramped for a while. The closet also has a lot of space on top of the closet for getting things up off the floor. There is a roller work/kitchen table that pulls out from the wall to either eat or work on.
Amenities: There is a large Flat screen TV, Dishwasher-for the included dishes, large refrigerator with freezer on the bottom and convection microwave. Wi-Fi included. You can call for an induction burner stove.
Noise:low. LIC is a busy area lately, but there was very little sound to be heard on the 9th floor.
HVAC: The A/C unit was very quiet and maintained the temperature you set it at with minimal fuss. Room darkness 95%. Light seeped under the pull down shades at one spot. But it was better than most.
Bathroom: was large and used energy saving toilets. A very nice touch. You have a light flush button and a full flush button. You only use the full flush button when you have more to flush. They have bath gel and shampoo dispensers in the shower. More environment sparing options. No hair conditioner or lotion. So you better bring your own. I found at 6'3" the shower width a little tight for me as I kept bumping my arm into the sides. Not really that much of a problem.
Breakfast: In the elevator they have a "guide" about the busy times and slow times. I guess I'll never make it to breakfast during the slow times. They have hot breakfast sandwiches that have numbers on them and you punch that number into the microwave to the correct amount of heating time. I'm still undecided if I like them or not. We were only there for one day so I'll reserve my judgment for a later time. They also had the normal Hilton type breakfast. Bagels, Danishes, fruit, oatmeal, juice, yogurt, cold cereals, coffee and more.
Fitness: we didn't get a chance to take advantage of their fitness center, but it looked like it had plenty of equipment to get in a good workout. More than the one or two treadmills and elliptical machines you find at...
Read moreThis was my first time staying at a hotel and my first experience was pleasant! I needed to take a mini stay-cation this place fit the bill! It was Home2Home is what it was for me. Pros: My room had a good size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, a big microwave kitchen/kitchenette, clean bathroom, towels and bedsheets. I stayed in a Queen size studio suite with city view, pullout couch, a big pullout desk and a comfortable ergonomic chair, free wifi and cable and they provided me w/a induction cookware to cook w/ when I ask. I had everything I needed. Free breakfast pre-packed and w/ some hot free breakfast options are included. I ❤ the begluim fresh waffles they were yummy in my tummy☺. Although lunch and dinner was not provided due to the Co-Vid, you can order in contactless delivery, there is a local deli in the corner, D.Donuts and some other food restaurants near by, Chinese Food and a Keyfood. Local train N,W station to get around. They also have a Terrance Deck to sit at and a little spot inside downstairs and outside near the entrance. The city view is not bad, could see the empire state building, bridge, watch the sun go down. Overall, the staff are really helpful and friendly and do their best to assist you. Housekeeping always available and on point! Cons: My bed did not feel like a Queen size bed felt more like a full size bed, it was very comfortable though. Thank God! The couch was sunk in somewhat and a litle torned need to be upgraded. The walls are very thin, I could hear the people next door to me as they were very loud slamming the doors, making loud noises. It was hard to sleep at times. Also in the morning, housekeeping could get loud too when cleaning and slamming the doors. The area is more near the boonddocks and many warehouses. But overall, I am grateful to God that I was able to get away for little while and recharge. Will visit here again. I pray God that it will be a little quieter though next time.Thnx Home2Suites Hilton Hotel for making my stay pleasant for a...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for the first time, and as a Hilton Honors card member, I was particularly disappointed with my experience. I arrived around 11 am and had to wait until 3 pm to get the key to my room. Despite having luggage, the front desk agent didn't offer any drop-off service, so I couldn't explore the area while waiting.
After waiting for hours, the agent informed me that the room was still not ready and I would have to wait even longer. This was extremely inconvenient, and to make matters worse, the front desk agent didn't bother to offer me water or any other options to make my wait more comfortable.
Upon finally getting to my room, I found it was dirty, and the front desk refused to provide a clean one. Thankfully, the housekeeping manager intervened and eventually gave me a clean room. However, the digital key didn’t work at all. Additionally, the vending machine drinks were overpriced, and the complimentary water that was supposed to be included in the room was not offered.
I had specifically booked this hotel for a room with a specific view, but I ended up in a different room that had no direct view from the bed. Both the original and replacement rooms had an insecure door connecting to the neighboring room, which was occupied by other guests. The lock could be unlocked from both sides, which felt extremely unsafe and unsettling.
The pillows were very uncomfortable, and there was constant noise throughout the evening, culminating in an alarm going off at midnight. When I tried to call the front desk for assistance, nobody answered despite multiple attempts.
Despite being a Hilton Honors card member, I did not receive any special treatment or recognition. The front desk agent on the afternoon shift was particularly unprofessional, adding to the overall negative experience. Sadly, this was my first time at this hotel, and it did not meet my...
