Absolutely horrible experience! No sense of order at all and the staff looks and is miserable. The first sign when you walk in says "line starts at register," then when you get to the register, it's swarmed with people going every which way and there was no one at the actual register. Apparently they have kiosks for you to place your order at. You only order what size and toppings you want, the flavor you pick at the window, but there are no signs saying that. There is not a single staff member directing people despite there being at least 7 people working there. After we finally watched people order on the kiosk, we decided that was the only way we would be getting service so we did the same. After you order, it gives you a receipt which you then have to stand in line and give to a person when they ask and then they will give you your order.
Only problem is that the young lady we got (wearing a hat with fake red hair coming out of it) grabbed our ticket and walked away without speaking to me at all. She came back 5 minutes later and asks the gentlemen in front of me what he wanted and proceeds to help him. Then she came back and tried to give me his order. I told her that the order was not for me and she hands it to the guy. Then she asked me where my ticket was and I told her that she had taken it already. She rudely asked me who did I gave it to so I told her, “you took it from me,” so she checks the counter and can’t find it. I tell her what I ordered (small with mint chip and classic with caramel). She starts the small and puts mint in it and then starts putting caramel in it as well, so we asked her who was that for and she rolled her eyes and said you. We told her, “No the small is just mint chip and the classic is caramel.” Then she knocks off the caramel scoop, doesn't rinse or change the spoon, and goes back to mint chip, which means the flavors are now mixed. Then she goes to fill the classic and starts filling it with Dulce de leche so again I asked who is that for and she once again rolled her eyes and then started scooping the correct flavor. When she finally hands me my cup, I tried to tell her I also ordered a vanilla macaron. She grabs it and tries to hand it to me with no napkin or container. When I asked for a napkin or something, she rolls her eyes again and then shoved the cookie in my cup, crushing the macaron, and walked away!
I was already fed up so I left, only to realize about 2 bites in, that there was hair in my gelato and I ended up throwing it away. The bites I did eat weren't even that good, it had ice chips in it. Overall, poor quality and piss poor service. Totally not worth the money or aggravation. Do...
Read moreI don't often review places unless I have a fantastic experience -- or an epically bad one. This wasn't fantastic. The gelato was delicious, let's start with that, but it's pure chaos. First you order on computer screens at the back of the store (where it wants a tip before anyone has waited on you?), then you get in line. There are at least six people behind the counter, and they are all getting in each other's way and asking each other what they're working on. One guy takes our "order" (the receipt from the machine) and sets them on the counter. Then, one by one, they take orders from the people in line behind us, while our orders sit there, still unfilled. Someone tells the guy who took our slips to take his break (he asks, "why so early?" We wonder "who's going to fill our order?") when a party of four behind us hands up their order, we say something. They tell us they're working on it. They dish up all four of those orders and then take someone else's order. Our orders are still sitting there. Now we're truly frustrated, and when we say something again, several of the staff engage in a "What's going on?" discussion and tell us, as if we're at fault, "how it works." But okay, they finally pick up our slips and get to work on our orders. My husband gets his. When someone else tries to hand me a vanilla (I ordered black berries and cream) I tell her that's not my order. The guy next to her is building a black cherries and cream cone and I tell her I think that's my order. She points to the inside of my cone, cops an Attitude (with a capitol A), and says, "it's in THERE." Then she sneers at her co-workers and rolls her eyes at the people who (might be) next in line ... I haven't even left the store!
If we hadn't already paid at the terminal when we came in 15 minutes ago, we would have left and gone around the corner to Anita la Mamma. So give this joint a pass (unless it's quiet and empty -- maybe there won't be so much drama then). It's certainly a...
Read moreNOT IN THE SAFE AREA! UNCONTROLLABLE HOMELESS PEOPLE ALERT!!!
We've been going here since day one of our one week New York vacation. My wife and I love Amorino hot chocolate. We first tried their thick hot chocolate in Paris and it's the best hot chocolate we've ever tried. WE've even tried it in LA Cali, and in Barcelona, Spain.
But this place doesn't do the same as other Amorinos. It's not as thick but it's still hazelnut flavor and it's the only one in the city so we still kept ordering since it's really something i crave everyday. Also, staffs look so unhappy. NO quality service. They don't even care what's going on around their store. HOMELESS KEEPS COMING IN AND OUT. They would get very near customers begging for money and WON'T LEAVE EASY. Customers are eating or sipping their drinks together with that nasty smell around the store. These HOMELESS ARE PRETTY AGGRESSIVE as well.
As mentioned, we've been coming here every single day. ALMOST THE SAME HOMELESS PEOPLE KEEPS COMING IN AND OUT and they can't even control it. But tonight, i had enough. One HOMELESS was asking $100 from a lady and she looked so scared. My wife couldn't resist what she was witnessing it so she helped the scared lady and said , "Hey, are you ready to go? Let's go now." And the lady stand and went beside my wife and THE HOMELESS SPAT ON MY WIFE's FACE!!! I was close to splash my not so thick but really hot Hot Chocolate on that CRAZY HOMELESS but thank God i was able to hold but i yelled at him instead and we just left.
UNFORTUNATELY, non of the staff nor anyone can help if you get attacked by these UNCONTROLLABLE HOMELESS PEOPLE . NO ONE EVEN ASKED FOR HIM TO LEAVE! NO ONE EVEN BOTHERED TO ASK WHAT HAPPENED OR WHAT SO EVER!
HOMELESS ARE TOO RAMPANT IN THIS AREA. It's just a matter of timing and who will be the next victim but for sure tourists and innocent people...
