I'm HOOKED! This place is so good. I've been here twice and both times have been incredible. I happen to stumble upon on Guacuco on my way home. I was with my mother and her two friends and they were famished. So I pulled over as soon as I saw the cute little restaurant and parking spot!

I had the Parrillada which is a combination of chicken and steak. This arepa is my favorite! I do tend to drench my arepas with the green and pink sauces on the table, I cant help it. The green sauce has cilantro and lime. The other is a ketchup/mayo combo. I also tried my mother's arepa, the Pernil. Great pick also.

My second time around i had another Parillada (because i cant get enough) and also tried the chicken. I'm not a fan of the chicken. It's a tomato based chicken. If it were grilled chicken, i'm sure it'd be delicious. Any who that was my sister's pick and she loved it. It depends on your taste...

Disorganized staff. Average food wise. Ordered a specialty bread that’s known for being a staple in the Venezuelan Christmas dinner and to have my American extended family enjoy a piece of my culture, prepaid it in advance, traveled 30 min to get it and they “didn’t have me on their order list” so be it... all they did was apologize, didn’t even offer to make me something else to bring home when they know how important that is for any Venezuelan and specially during this difficult times. Their approach to service is the same from back home; they look at you like you made the mistake and they just expect you to just be cool with that. In no way trying to make you somewhat better about their mistake. What a disappoint, because I would like any Venezuelan business in the state to thrive, but hope this helps them understand that they have to step...

Update! 2020

I was here before and the food was great. Still, about a week ago I visited the restaurant again and I must say they have improved! Their cachapas are soooo delicious and the staff was so nice and understanding. I was there with a group of people and we ordered food for pickup; they were about to close and we changed our mind and wanted to seat. It was no worries! they were polite and understanding enough to let us stay for a little. Thank you so much!!! I'll be back!

2019 review

I’m Venezuelan and this is the closest that it can taste to the food that I had back in home. I recommend the ham & cheese empanada, the tequeños and cocada. They also have a very friendly staff. I loved it. Definitely the best place for Venezuelan food that I’ve been in NYC. Unfortunately they’ve run out of cachapas by the time I went. I’ll be back...

Had lunch with a Canadian tourist yesterday at Arepera Guacoco in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Venezuelan cuisine hit the spot. No wait. Seated immediately. Quiet place. Staff came over whenever we needed anything. She knew exactly when and to stay out of our hair while our group caught up chit chatting. Started with a large pitcher of red sangria, which was quite strong. I ordered the Reina Pepada, which was incredible! Every bite was a tiny piece of heaven. They also brought us 4 sauces. Verde a little spicy, a vegetable mayo sauce which tasted fresh and two other mayo sauces. All dairy free. Inflation and popularity have impacted them as prices went up quite a bit since 2019 when we last ate there. Can't wait to return!

The cocada was DIVINE. I literally attempted to replicate it at home and failed. I highly recommend getting this drink when you come here. I got the Leo’s Arepa and Pabellón Criollo. The arepa was sooooo good, I wish they had more cheese because it really complemented the meat and sauces. The actual arepa bun was the best though. Very crispy on the outside and tasted homemade. The pabellón criollo was delicious just a bit pricey since everything on the plate could fit inside the arepa- which then it would just be more reasonable to just get an arepa, which is this places specialty to begin with. Great customer service, very clean and great food!! Please don’t forget to stop by for the cocada, it’s DELICIOUS.

Food was AMAZING!!!!! Cannot complain about the service, the atmosphere was very clean and the server was super friendly. I was just a bit disappointed in the portions to price ratio. For that reason I have to give them 4 stars. Of the portions were bigger or if the price was a bit cheaper, I would have given them 5 stars. Trust and believe this food is beyond AMAZING!!! Highly recommend the shredded chicken or the beef with sweet plantains + beans.
