UPDATE: The managers seeing that I was visibly upset came over and apologized for the cashiers behavior towards me… I will update from 1 star to 3 stars for that…

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this establishment today. I stopped by before my class and ordered an egg everything bagel with butter. When I finally sat down to eat, I realized they had given me an egg everything bagel with avocado instead. Since class had already started, I had to wait until lunchtime to go back and get it fixed.

When I returned around 1:15 PM, I explained the mistake, and a man who seemed to be the manager was very polite and quickly corrected my order. At that point, I also decided to order a hot chocolate. When I went to pay, the cashier told me to give her five minutes because their register wasn’t working. I came back twice to try again, but the system was still down.

Since I planned to eat there, I let her know she could just call me over when the register was ready. As I was eating and responding to an urgent message, she suddenly started banging on the counter and yelling for me to come pay. I asked her to give me a second, but she kept insisting that I was “holding up the line.” How exactly was I holding up the line when I had already attempted to pay three times?

To make matters worse, another customer, who knew nothing about the situation, decided to chime in and yell at me as well. I calmly explained (again) that I had already tried to pay multiple times but their system was down. At that point, I had lost all patience and told the other customer to mind their business.

As I was sitting there, still frustrated, the cashier walked by and told me to just take my hot chocolate without paying. At that point, I had lost my appetite for both the food and the entire experience. The level of unprofessionalism and unnecessary rudeness was beyond unacceptable.

I will never return, and I’ll be advising my colleagues, friends, and family to avoid this place as well. There are plenty of other businesses that know how to treat their customers with basic respect—this is clearly not...

Ok the hype is spot on for this corner located breakfast and lunch spot. That’s right you can eat a bagel until four or try one of their sandwich options. If it is your first time check out the menu in advance to support knowing wha type want to order and get out the way. Yes you will likely find a line mixed with regulars who know exactly what they want or tourists figuring out the difference between an everything bagel vs poppy seeds. The menu is clear to understand on the wall and even includes photos to speed up the ordering process. I tried the Crispy Pig which has chipotle cream cheese and bacon. In the Bronx bodegas, bacon with cream cheese on a bagel will get you a double take, but here it is celebrated for the sweet and salty blend of heaven it is. With the chipotle cream cheese it will add a kick. The heat (temperature) did make my cream cheese gooey so please grab those napkins by the register. Getting back in will be tough as people will wonder about your intentions. Grab a seat outside and watch the traffic and commuters roll by. Cheer on healthcare working or reflect on scrub color options and workers rush to clock in at the hospital across the street. Try something new or get your usual order. It...

Consistently the slowest bagel spot in NYC. I've been here about five times, and haven't gotten out with my bagel in under 20~30 minutes. Even when there is no line somehow just making a BEC takes 20 minutes.

Quality-wise the bagels are pretty good, specifically their egg everything bagels are good -- but in New York where there's a bagel spot every two blocks I can't justify waiting a half hour for a breakfast sandwich.

Note that my review has nothing to do with the staff (cashier, etc) directly, but rather my entire experience here.

Edit: this is the most annoying PR response I've ever gotten on here. Improve your store rather than writing cute emoji filled responses.

Edit2: I ordered a baker's dozen bagels, the inside is still doughy. I don't know how you could mess up a bagel this bad in...

Every time I think I’ve had the best bagel in NYC, another place comes along and proves me wrong — and this one might just take the crown. The only downside? There’s almost no seating. This is a grab-and-go kind of spot, so plan for takeout. Everything here is fresh, fast, and friendly. Prices are solid, service is efficient, and the sheer number of options is almost overwhelming in the best way. The fish was incredibly fresh, the dough perfectly chewy. It’s the kind of breakfast that just makes you happy. Honestly, I’m running out of new ways to compliment bagels in NYC. I love it here and it’s thanks to places like this, and the people behind them, that make it feel so special.
