I have time today. I recently moved to FIDI and my husband and I are on mission to find good spots for breakfast/brunch in walking distance for when he’s not working on the weekend. So, sometimes I go to places by myself during the week to try them out so I can take him to them on the weekend. Well, I went to Hole in the Wall because I’ve passed it a couple of times and it has a good rating. Everything was great food wise and customer service wise (until…), I had the breakfast sandwich ($17) and my server was Katie I believe (who was great). I sat, ordered pretty quickly, ate my meal quickly, and checked out my bill on their self-serve system before going to the restroom to wash my hands so they didn’t think I was dining and dashing. After washing my hands I sat back down for a little longer to complete some grocery orders on my phone. Well, another woman came over to me and asked me if I wanted to get a drink and I said I was fine. She came back a few second later and asked me to relocate to another table so that other people could be seated. Everyone was seated, the place was pretty full with about 4, 2 seater tables available and no one visibly waiting to be seated. She wanted me to move to another table that was literally the same as the one I was sitting at. I told her I was fine, I would just leave, I didn’t need to relocate. I’ve been to Suited down the road several times, a space that is way smaller, I’ve sat there for 30+ minutes after finishing my food, taking care of my household tasks, and I’ve never been kicked out, only appreciated for my business. I shouldn’t have to have a drink or food in front of me the entire time I’m seated. There were literally still people there that were there before me still sitting after they finished their food. I’m now a local, I literally live here, and would continuously come back if I like the place. I can guarantee you, I will not be back to this Hole in the Wall. lol, it’s kind of comical because my husband and I eat out way too much and really liked the sandwich, it’s actually better than Suited’s, but it’s unfortunate you all won’t get our business again. *And let me add, you pay $.99 to use their self-pay app, which they do not tell you. They come and ask you if you want to checkout on the QR code or they can bring the machine to you. I didn’t think anything of it and just used the QR code to make it easier for them, I then see on my emailed receipt that I paid $.99 to use it… *For good food and service, try Suited, Urban Cover...
Read moreThis is the worst restaurant I've gone too in a while. I'll be honest the waiters were very nice and patient. But the manager was just rude...
My friends and I traveled to NY for the day and originally planned to go to the sugar factory. Turns out that restaurant was closed so we decided to check this one out. We were a group of six people. This place is very fancy looking and they play great music too. 3 people in the group including myself ordered shrimp spaghetti and something else. We couldn't eat our orders since it was just too spicy so I asked the waitress if we could get something else. The manager came (blonde lady with blue eyes) and basically got the whole restaurants attention to our table. "You guys can't go to a restaurant and just switch orders just because you don't like it or it's too spicy. When you go to restaurants you can't be doing that so much because you're waisting food". First of all we asked to get charged for the plates that we didn't eat. The way she approached the situation was completely wrong. She was implying that we just went there to get free food then leave. After that little approach we were so embarrassed we just wanted to leave. Their whole menu is bad. I just wouldn't recommend going there. There's so many places in NYC with good costumer service and food y'all...
Read moreWas contemplating between a 3 star to 4 star rating. Eventually settled with 3 star because the quality of the coffee. Food was actually pretty good. Had the smoked salmon bagel and it was decent. The decor inside was also quite nice. Things turned sour when it came to service and the coffee itself. Ordered a latte and it was actually burnt. Milk based espressos cannot be burnt as it will lose the sweet taste. If it wasn't milk based then go for your life, as hot as you want. Those who want hot coffee should NOT order milk based espressos. A latte is milk based so it cannot be hot. When I touched my coffee mug, I immediately knew it was burnt. The taste of burnt milk was evident. The lady at the counter when I was there was also very cold when she served. I didn't feel like I wanted to be there in the café. It was 2 star up to that point and until another gentleman had better mannerisms than the other staff, I felt like it was a 3 star. It is unfortunate as I love Melbourne lattes in Australia and I was looking forward to a Melbournian latte. I didn't get that so I feel quite sad I left a lower than 5 star rating. I think with abit of retraining and better consistent service then it will deliver 5 star...
