Balancero — Restaurant in New York

UPDATE: After 6 months of daily trips to Balancero I can without a doubt say it’s the best coffee in the city. The owner is wonderful and the baristas truly love working there and sharing time with the customers. It’s easy to see why there’s always a loyal line of customers outside their window. Their espresso bright and fresh, and in the summer months their iced coffee never fails me. Even if you’re not a coffee drinker, the lemonade (pictured below) is delightfully sour and refreshing. I buy beans here too in a feverish attempt to recreate the joy of their coffee when I’m at home. Love the team behind Balancero, and I bring everyone who visits me to experience it.

I came across this five-star cafe on Google map and decided to pay a visit when we were nearby as it’s hard to earn five stars nowadays in nyc that I’d definitely like to take a look. And yay I’m so glad I did as the coffee here are amazingly delicious and the owner is pleasant and welcoming from the beginning greeting us at the doorstep. After confirming we were new to the neighborhood he gave us a loyalty card that you can collect points for drink reward (how nice!). While we were pretty satisfied and ready to leave, the even more surprising part was happening that the owner quickly wrapped two mini custard donuts for us as a warm welcoming gift! I’m a local New Yorker born and raised here. I’ve been to hundreds of coffee shops all over manhattan, Brooklyn, and queens. I am definitely a person of quality, aka I’m picky. As a proud Italian American I have a high standard of food and coffee in general. This is probably my favorite spot in all of New York. The beans are the best you can get, the craftsmanship behind the baristas, and of Course the really nice blonde girl who’s always keeping it real and holding it down behind the window.
