Genuinely unique beer shop / tasting room / bar hybrid that's a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Management definitely has their finger on the pulse of contemporary craft beers: many suds can't be found for retail anywhere else in the borough. Farmhouse, wild yeast, sours, hazy IPAs - many from truly nanobreweries, as well as a fine selection of limited releases. If you've ever been to a "craft beer bar" that has dusty cans of whatever no-names the distributor wanted to unload - Heart of Gold is the opposite. Which isn't to say it's just for beer snobs: there's enough variety for anyone's palate, including lighter fare like pilsners, and flavor-infused beers, as well as ciders, and wine.

Staff is friendly, attentive, and quite knowledgeable in the "tell me what you usually like, i'll tell you what you might want to try" sort of way. They host food pop-ups announced on Instagram but have a regular menu of servicable snacks and sandwiches. Outdoor seating in the back has heaters at every table and dividers between sections. Overall very good at covid precautions. Unisex restroom.

I recently had my 30th birthday party at Heart of Gold, and the experience couldn't have been better. Of course, you want a milestone like that to be special -- and H/G made it special indeed.

I already knew it was a great place for more casual outings of all stripes: date nights, friendly get-togethers, a quick weeknight dinner with a good brew, etc. But for anyone looking for a PARTY, H/G has definitely got you there, too. When my wife and I emailed them about possibly having a 30-person private event there, they were immediately responsive and helpful, and remained so throughout the whole process. The catering menu was exceptional, the staff couldn't be friendlier and more helpful, and everybody of course loved the great big beer selection, delicious food, ample space, and distinctly cool atmosphere.

This place is an Astoria GEM!! If you love a cool, laid back bar vibe with a fantastic selection of local brews and mouthwatering sandwiches, Heart of Gold is here for YOU! (and me, frankly 😁)

I came here recently on a Monday evening to take advantage of their movie night in their backyard. I was pleasantly surprised with their indoor and outdoor facilities.

In addition, the staff here are very friendly and they all had lovely smiles on their faces. In all seriousness, I can hang at the bar all night long.

Definitely give this place a visit and if you love prosciutto, I recommend their "Tough Love" panini. It's to for for. Prosciutto, goat cheese, and honey. MARVELOUS!
