I’m utterly disappointed. I went to order off Door Dash because of the good reviews. I order the 16oz Berkshire chop, mac n cheese, black rice, cod bites, shrimp sandwich and almond rum cake. Order goes through for delivery. I get a call from Door Dash telling me they have to cancel my order because They don’t have the Mac or the cake. I say give me the credit and I’ll reorder and pick something else in place of the 2 missing items on the menu. Mind you I asked was there anything else not on the menu before I go order and she said yes “the empanadas and anything on the brunch list. No big deal. (**Please edit your inventory daily). So I go back on Door Dash and reorder everything but this time I order the coconut spinach and chocolate fudge cake. As I go to hit delivery, the delivery option becomes unavailable. So I switch to pick up and then I get an error that my cart items cannot be processed. I call the restaurant and a woman who was very nice and very compassionate wasn’t sure why the app wouldn’t work. I said if I can’t get it to go through I’ll call because I can use my credit with Door Dash another time. I try again and the same error. Now I’m tight (mad). So I call and place my order. This time it’s a different person who wasn’t as compassionate kinda rushing me along with my order on top of telling me there’s no fudge cake and my order will be $93 from $71 on Door Dash. Now I’m really agitated so I pick the red velvet and we hang up. I should have acknowledged the warning signs. I drive to the restaurant and I’m greeted with lousy service from a woman behind the bar. So I still have an ounce of nice in me so I ask why is my order $22 dollars more. She explains in her own words that it’s cheaper on Door Dash. I said but that’s $22 difference. I pay less for delivery and WAY MORE to pick it up myself. I said I’m all about supporting black businesses but come on. She says "I know, I will let the owner know". (sure you will) So I leave a $5 tip even though I’m picking my own food up but still, you gotta support right? Not once was I offered something to drink. I’d take water as an olive branch. Nope. Nothing. The waitress hands me my bag with the "here peasant" look lol and when I look in the bag: My pork chop was cooked to DEATH and it was not 16oz. 6oz maybe 8oz at best for $33 bucks!!! 16 oz. Berkshire huh? That was a porkchop out of a grocery store family pack of 10. The cod fritters were just a fried ball of mush inside. The Haitian Black rice was just bland. The coconut cream spinach was literally a serving spoon full drowned in coconut milk for $8. The BBQ shrimp sandwich was decent but the shrimp was over cooked and my wife ordered that. At that point we were just eating it because we were hungry and don't waste food. So I was price gouged, small servings and poor customer service in person. Oh and the Shrimp sandwich side of fries that came with it were soggy 10 mins after I was handed my food. How Sway? I took pictures of the food just to back my story when I explain this horrible experience to my friends later. I will take the L on this one. It's almost like the food that was being sold was the same food from when everything shut down for Covid so they defrosted the food and raised the prices sky high to recoup those losses. Even if that's not the case, you don't do people like that. $33 for what looked like a 6oz grocery store bought pork chop, some mediocre mashed potatoes and a side of veggies still needles me at the thought. That's a kids meal. See pic below:

I have had the pleasure of dining at BK 9 on May 05, 2018, Cinco de Mayo. I will shout out restaurant owner/partner Mr. G. Casimir and Ms. Maya. They were absolutely gracious hosts to our organization; party of 15. Our server was accommodating and kind. We also got some history by Mr. Casimir of how the restaurant came to exist, with the prompting of 8 other owners; hence its name. My organization is affiliated with aviation and promotes black aviation employees in career advancement as well as forge community outreach initiatives; aviation ace camps, food drives, international awareness of aviation, education, and assisted recruitment, just to name a few. Ironically Mr. Casimir went to Aviation HS. So this night was organically infused to say the least. We had pre fixe menus. So the appetizers consisted of jerk wings and Caesar salad, and the entrees consisted of salmon, oxtails, and a vegetarian dish; Tour D'Legume. Some dishes came with rice and plantains (green). The food was absolutely delicious. We were hosted downstairs and the space was functional and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the music as well. We were also overly accommodated and were hosted like family. We will be using this venue again. The members of my organization have expressed have nothing short of numerous accolades. We intend on using this establishment to host future events. We are proud to support a black owned establishment who also liaises with the very few and currently far between black owned restaurants in Park Slope, as well as support a local food bank to combat homelessness. I salute Bk9 for being a positive force in the Park Slope community. It is my sincere hope that as your establishment grows, you will harvest great relationships and be a great example in the hospitality business. We are have lost and are losing many of our black owned restaurants. Gentrification is very much real. The picture posted is the dish I enjoyed, Broiled Miso Salmon Coconut Lime Callaloo/Farro.

I went there with my fiancée and in laws for a birthday dinner and brought a custom cake from her favorite bakery , since the restaurant didn’t have the kind of cake she liked. They ended store the cake when I first got there in the mini fridge with no issue. I paid for the meal (6 people include) but due to a certain diet and island customs I asked for a certain combination for my plate of food items they were on the menu Mac & cheese , griot , that made sense for my diet due to health reasons. Anyway the manager gave me a hard time about it said they don’t do that, although during my previous visit I had that exact plate with no problem. I can only order as the menu presents the dishes. And then told me in the end which I thought was odd. But got my plate after dealing with the manager attitude and snarky remarks. After the dinner I was told last minute that I couldn’t cut my cake in the restaurant without being charged $16 per slice and it was cold outside, so I told her the cake its self was under $30 from the bakery and custom flavor why would I pay more for cut the cake then I paid for it. The Only thing that would be needed would be plates and knives and forks, she proceeded to say 16 per slice or I couldn’t cut the cake in there or outside the bar (in the outside seating area). Even the waitress said sorry about that , when I asked her why would my cake being sliced being charged so much if they didn’t bake it and charging me such an outrageous price for 6-8 slices of my own cake. I paid for the slices since I had no choice and my party were folks who traveled very far for the dinner (s.i) . They snuck the tip into the bill and charged me for the slices. The manager had a attitude and made it seem like I was trying to get her workers in trouble when I said it wasn’t a issue during my last visit for my own custom plate . The cake charge seemed to be out of spite based off my choice for my plate , although I tried my best to ask for Mac & cheese &griot without coming off as one of those annoying customers and tried my best to explain it due to my (intermittent fasting break/ cheat meal plan) . She also ask who made my plate last time and when I said one of the cooks she told me “so now you’re trying to get one of my guys fired” , I told her that wasn’t the case and I just wanted some small plate of food and didn’t want to cause anyone any trouble.ill never go back and felt robbed out of a special time due to how management went about the situation and poor...

Do not come here! This establishment is not a place you can trust with your money. I dined at BK9 for dinner and ordered the oxtails where half were fine half were hard, the rice and cabbage were bland and I couldn’t gotten better food having normal Jamaican takeout. I had the drunken lust as my drink it tasted like just vodka and mango juice and not a well mixed cocktail, my friends both had the Guayabera and gagged a little because it was somehow salty and they couldn’t drink it without both adding a hefty amount of simple syrup. They also had the oxtail empanadas which were fine with sauce. However none of this was even a big deal, average meal not exceptional but fine. The issue is that there was an automatic gratuity applied with no prior indication anywhere in the restaurant on signage or on the menu or from my server. When the check book was presented I just handed my card over without opening it, which I admit I should have the first time because perhaps there was something in there that mentioned it. However the issue is that I was then handed a receipt to select and fill out tip choosing from 18-22% and when I got my card back I did not get an itemized as I expected however I was running late for an event and trusted things were in order as I didn’t have the time to search for my server to get it. Why would they hand me a receipt to apply an extra 18% of tip when they already took 18%? Auto-grat is not even something I’m against, however if you’ve included it there should be notice and then the following tip form starting at adding an additional 2-5%. Presenting a normal tip amount makes the customer believe that tip has not been charged. To get me to add an extra 20% ON TOP of tip I didn’t know I just gave was dishonest and I called the restaurant twice to try to get a partial refund and told them the practice was a bit dishonest and they should make sure guests are aware. The first time I called there was no apology just rudely passed off, they got my phone number from me and that’s it. I called back later where I was put on hold for 20 minutes and after I waited all that time they HUNG UP. I called back immediately after (third call now) and was told that my message could not be relayed to managment even though I had just been on phone with a manager. So not only was the dining experience mediocre as hell but they’re practicing schemey business and won’t help you if there’s a problem after. (Note: we were a party of 3 in case anyone thinks it was a...
