Black Press Coffee — Restaurant in New York

Will say on Instagram they close at 6 pm today (holiday 1/1), and then 3 minutes before the time they decide to close (5 pm, so 4:57 pm) they will say "sorry we're closed." I was just going to buy beans, which would have been a minute (and would have had me out the door probably before the 5pm time). Also it's pretty apparent we were only going to get beans, because we walked up to the beans and not the counter. I usually don't do reviews, I work in a similar type of place and understand how they can be and I feel like people can have a bad day, but I've never been to a place with employees that have been consistently rude for absolutely no reason other than we walked in. It's been pretty consistent, as well, since I've gone 3 times before this with the same take away. The time before this that I was there, I couldn't even order because the person behind the counter would interrupt me and say the order total before I could add to it, and kept doing it until it was, like, 5 times in. This coffee shop, which has only been open a couple of years, decided to copyright the name black press and then send cease and desist letters to all the other coffee shops named black press all over the country, even ones that were in existence well before them. The other coffee shops have nothing to do with them and it does not affect them to share the name. They are costing these coffee shops loads of money that they do not have to change their name, products, logos, and advertising, not to mention legal fees. So much for "awesome vibes." More like "corporate overlord vibes." You should be ashamed...

I hadn’t seen this spot in the neighborhood before, so I decided to stop in— turns out they just opened. I was kind of skeptical when I walked in but was open to trying something new.
