Yihan Spa — Local services in New York

My partner and I had a mostly okay experience—Luna and the other woman (we forgot her name sorry!) did a good job. We booked a 1-hour Swedish massage and a 1-hour facial for Valentine's, done in the same room together which was a 2hr visit. The massages were good, but the facial felt rushed and incomplete. Given that we spent about $600 before tip, I expected more effort, especially on extractions, which I specifically requested during the facial. Instead, we ended up with layers of creams and products, which made our skin feel nice but she didn’t address the clogged pores that were clearly still visible. I’ve had plenty of great facials, and unfortunately, this one fell short. That alone made us deduct a star.

What really soured the experience, though, was the uncomfortable situation at checkout regarding tipping. The payment screen prompted us to tip, which we were in the process of doing, when the receptionist started questioning our tip amount and directed us to a sheet on the counter. When we pushed back, she falsely claimed that our package totaled "four hours" of service—when in reality, our massage and facial were done simultaneously in the same room for a total of two hours. Feeling pressured to avoid an awkward confrontation, we reluctantly increased our tip to 25% and left. My boyfriend and I just looked at each other afterward, both frustrated by how tipping culture has become so entitled. We are generous tippers when we feel the service meets our expectations, but we do not appreciate being pressured into tipping beyond what we feel is deserved—especially when it feels like coercion. That alone made us deduct another star.

For a $600 spa experience that was subpar, we’ll be spending our money...

Not best massage. Exposed me multiple times. Had his hand in my butt when massaging my upper back. Left the door wide open while I was still laying in bed. At beginning took off all sheets except the see through thin sheet. I paid with classpass so I just walked out and got chased outside for a tip. They always basically try to force a tip almost like they forget it’s optional and based on how service went.

Edit: If you look at other review at other location and my past appointments you’ll see I’ve been to your locations multiple times (5-10) with nothing but great experiences and most were with men. I’m a service provider I know tips are appreciated but not for every service and I’ve always tipped everyone. I did not use the word harass but now that you bring it up yes it it is, the lady ran downstairs and yelled down the street for me to tip…. That’s not a reminder it is harassment because a tip a not required lol. I also thought you guys would use high grade sheets and didn’t think anything of it (hence why I didn’t ask for the big sheet back) until I turned over and could fully see my underwear and other things under the sheets. Why would I want to talk about it? I’m a female alone, of course I’m going to just leave. Yes reviews are for the one sided perspective of the customer, crazy concept I know. I’ve been getting massages for 10years and I’ve never had that experience during a simple Swedish massage. Your response shows the level of professionalism you guys lack.
