I planned a Vietnam Veterans Fundraiser at Bootleggers - not happy with outcome. During the planning process, things were promised but not delivered. I had to pay for half the band. I told the “assistant” I was seeking a band to play for free. The “assistant” didn’t seem to grasp the concept of a fundraiser since she found a band who wanted $3k for 3 hours! The second band she presented was $1,500. The band, nor its followers, seemed to know they were booked for a fundraiser. Their followers didn’t want to pay the entry fee. Bootlegger’s marketing materials didn’t list an entry fee/donation at the door and most were hesitant to pay - even though it was for Veterans - held Memorial Weekend no less!!! The Band didn’t promote raffles nor 50/50 and had to be asked twice. A Ceremony was conducted prior to playing so they knew the theme for the day but didn’t seem receptive to helping raise money either, even after I told the sound engineer, I was paying half their fee! The “assistant manager” was unwelcoming and only checked in when wanting money from me. She was uncommunicative the entire time nor was she helpful. Three “bar regulars” were obnoxious, and one seemed to speak on behalf of the “partners.” The “regular” demanded his money back if Bootleggers didn’t put out the pizza promised then said we’d never “have another fundraiser there again”! He also made threatening remarks. The atmosphere was hostile and unwelcoming! We had to go to the bar for beverages since none of the waitresses asked for our orders. No one came around while we were packing up, which took a while. Customer service was poor! I made a phone call and sent email requesting a meeting with the “partners” but received no response to date - it’s been 1.5 months. I’m sure they knew of the problems encountered in their establishment but don’t seem to care. In the end, Bootleggers made money at the bar and off the menu and only had to pay half the band. We worked hard at the fundraiser and made a very low total of $540 for Vets - lower than any other fundraiser I’ve ever held! I was also in communication with Ryan’s Wake who approved my fundraiser, but only had availability the following month. I regret confirming with Bootleggers. I highly recommend Ryan’s Wake for fundraisers, if they have availability. I’ve been to several there and always had a good time. The manager and assistant are communicative and very professional. Their staff is awesome and welcoming! Lesson learned, but it’s the Veterans initiative...
Read moreWe were visitors to Troy, NY last night (2/10/24), in town from Massachusetts to attend an 8 pm concert at the Music Hall. We were thrilled to be seated immediately upon arrival at 5:45 pm. At 6:15, after being totally ignored by a couple of waitresses in the area we were sitting, we finally flagged down a waitress and asked if we could place an order. We had drinks first and an appetizer, my husband noticed the negative body language on the waitress when we did not order alcohol. We placed our food order at the same time, 6:15 pm. At 7:10 pm, when the sandwiches we ordered had not yet arrived, my husband went looking for our waitress to cancel our order as we didn't want to be late for our concert. The food arrived at 7:15 pm, one full hour to bring sandwiches. When we complained to the waitress, she blamed the owner of the restaurant who seated us. She said he should have told us it would be an hour wait for food. I blame everyone, particularly the lousy waitresses. It's like we were invisible, they attended all the tables around us, but for whatever reason, they ignored us. Needless to say, having to inhale dinner before we had to leave was so not enjoyable. I will never return there and I will never recommend it to anyone. I understand a Saturday night is busy, but with a concert venue close by, you should be prepared to handle the crowd and respond in timely manners. The tip for the waitress reflected the service. We also did not receive a receipt for our meal so couldn't tell you who our...
Read moreWe had a great experience here yesterday night. The atmosphere is a nicer pub, with lots of tvs above the bar if you want to watch the game. The tables where we sat were for enough away that it felt separate from the bar area, though. Also of note, bathrooms were very clean, which says a lot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She took our order promptly and the appetizers (mozzarella sticks and soup) came out quickly. The entrees arrived hot and as we asked for them. Last, but definitely not least, the food was awesome! The mozzarella sticks were 6 to an order (I love when it's an even number) and I really loved the marinara sauce. The Buffalo chicken chowder was so good! A little bit of heat, lots of chicken and veggies, and just thick enough. We ordered the chicken tenders, which had a light and crunchy beer batter coating. If the batter is the same, I can't wait to try the fried fish next. We also tried the Cowboy burger. It came out medium well as we had asked and had just the right amount of bbq (I hate when they pour it on and soak the bun). Fries were good too. Overall, a pleasant experience all around and we will be back to try other items too. You should stop by yourself and...
