Cafe Con Pan — Restaurant in New York

This place doesn't deserve even a single star. I went to visit my aunt in Brooklyn and the next morning, September 22nd, I went to buy a few items from the bakery (tres leche cake, macaron, pastelillo de guayaba). I took the items home. The tres leche was used as a birthday cake for my cousin which was cut and eaten by several individuals. The flavor was fine, although not the best I have ever had. Then, in the evening I sat down with my sister and husband to drink a cup of coffee along with the other items I had bought at the bakery. To our surprise everything was all molded. Not just a spot but noticable mold. I literally wanted to throw up. I was in shock that the bakery would even sell them at this point of decay. Everything needed to be trashed. My sister called the bakery and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was so rude and hung up. To our disappointment we live in south NJ which impeded us from complaining in person. Not only was my money thrown away, the next morning I woke up throwing up and with the runs. Other people who ate the cake also experienced the same thing. I will never go there again and DO NOT RECOMMEND this...

I been coming here a little under a year as I live close a block away and other than one time getting a coffee instead of an espresso shot it’s been great. The pastries are delicious (pastellito guayaba is my favorite followed by conolis) and the tres leches cake is delicious (I got strawberry filling).

Definitely surprised at some of these negative reviews. I’ve come in here dozens of times (for coffee mostly but probably for food like half those times) and I’ve never had anyone be rude to me. I’ve also never had anything I didn’t like, just have a preference for some over others.

Only thing I haven’t done is dine in, it looks kind of small for that but...

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS I WOULD --- I NORMALLY USED TO PURCHASE FROM HERE SINCE I USED TO WORK ON THE SAME BLOCK FOR YEARS AND I NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, I JUST CAME SUNDAY AUGUST 4, 2019 AND PURCHASED A SMALL CAKE FROM THEM AND I HAVE TO POINT OUT THAT I HAD TO TOSS THE ENTIREEEEEEEE CAKE INTO THE TRASH. NOT ONLY WAS I EMBARRASSED IN FRONT OF PEOPLE SINCE I COULDNT EVEN GIVE THEM A SLICE OF CAKE BUT I WAS REPULSED BY HOW THEY WOULD DARE SELL SOMETHING THAT SMELLED OLD, AND WAS OLD. A TASTE OF THE CAKE MADE ME GAG AND I REALIZED THAT I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS...
