Capri Cakes — Restaurant in New York

The customer service at both locations is extremely poor. 149th in the Bx & 116th Street in harlem I went to 149th and begged to have a cake made that is displayed on their IG. I walked in to inquire and request a price quote. I asked for the cake to be in butter cream (all my cakes from them was always butter cream) The store called the baker and he said he could do it. Two weeks later I attempt to order the cake and was now told it had to be in whip cream only. Which I found odd because my previous cake the year before was all butter cream. I asked to speak w the owner. She (Nancy) then said, butter cream is no longer an option they offer due to the current to supply & demand even when I offered to pay extra to have the cake done in all butter cream. Nancy said she no longer stocks enough butter cream. I then asked if the 116th location would make the cake, Nancy told me she didn’t know, that it was different management. I go to 116th & request the same cake, I was told the cake can only be done in whip cream when I asked why I was told because the baker could not put color in butter cream. Now Ive been ordering cakes my entire life on butter cream, I knew that was a lie. I then showed them the cake from the previous year, done in all butter cream….the proceeded to tell me I was lying. I begged to speak to the baker and waited thirty minutes. I was told they were too busy to come speak w/ me. Then I was told the cake could be done in butter cream but it had to be in white (no color) At this point I said okay because I was desperate and running out of time. How am I supposed to tell my 10 year old she couldn’t have the cake she picked out herself??!! So I said I’ll take the cake in butter cream if you would do the flowers in a color/whip cream. The employee called the baker, and said he then said no. But you just told me I could have the cake in all white/butter cream! Then I was told if 149th couldn’t do it, that they couldn’t I said I was told you were different owners?. Well, I was told Nancy is the wife of the owner to this location So besides both locations saying yes….then double back and saying no, now Nancy the wife lied to me about owner/management w/ the locations. So she waisted my time, I was called a liar and got the run around on both locations about the cake. Both locations are in highly populated latino neighborhoods, the employees speak english but there is a language barrier not to mention a lack of customer service manners. I can’t help but to wonder If I was latina and/or could speak Spanish that they would have been a bit more understanding and sensitive to my order. Now I have to explain to my 10 year old why she can’t have the cake she picked out herself for...

Horrible service . I was recommended to this store hoping I would have a wonderful experience instead I was told that they couldn’t customize a cupcake cake that I wanted so I had to settle for a regular cake for $100 dollars after seeing how huge it was I was no longer interested. They refunded me my $100 back and then I paid $25 for a regular basic cake that was on display . After getting home and visiting their Instagram page exactly what I asked for the first time was exactly what was on one of their photos . So I called and told them what the issue was the lady that I spoke to told me that she didn’t know why the younger woman told me that it wasn’t possible but that it was and I needed to come in as soon as possible to change my order. This third attempt at ordering the cake came out to $85 I told the lady that I wanted to pay right then and there she told me know that she didn’t need to charge me because I had already paid a $100 I told her yes I did but that the younger woman refunded me my 100 and then I only paid 25 she didn’t want to hear me she said she didn’t care what the lady before her had did and that she wasn’t going to charge me instead she was giving me a $15 credit. I gave up and went home. The next morning The same lady that I dealt with the day before called and said that I needed to pay 60 more dollars because she made a mistake I went on to tell her that I was trying to explain to her that I wanted to pay because the lady did in fact refund me my money but she didn’t want to listen to me so that wasn’t my fault I didn’t mind paying the extra but I would have liked a discount for the money I spent going back-and-forth four times and for the trouble that I received as a new customer. I asked to speak to the manager/owner multiple times and all I ever heard was she is not available we do not have a manager This place is horrible I will never be...

Ordered a $50 cake from this bakery for a birthday because the venue seemed nice. I received my cake in a box that was too small for the cake and was stapled together, which led to damage upon arriving at home.

The worker showed me the cake while the box was still open and I couldn't see that the box was the wrong size. She went to pack the cake away from my view across the store, then came back with the cake wrapped in a plastic bag so I couldn't see the issue until I got home and unwrapped it.

In the photos, you can see that back of the box was stapled together to force the cake to fit inside, and was covered by the bag it was wrapped in so the issue was out of view. The back/top of the cake is being pressed by the lid of the box, as well as the side. A small bit on the front of the cake was also damaged because the front flap of the box is movable, and can be seen in the last photo (the white of the cake is the damage).

I'm severely disappointed in this result. I need to take this cake to a birthday party tomorrow and I'm worried about traveling now because the sides and top of the box are pinching the sides and top of the cake. I can't even call the store because their phone number is out of service, which leaves me to writing this poor review.

Why would this store not have boxes to support the sizes of the cakes they create? The worker could have at least informed me of the packaging so I could be aware while traveling. I won't be ordering cakes from here again, which is disappointing because the design of the cake would have been...
