I consider myself a connoisseur of all types of food, especially in New York. Today, I and some friends were looking for somewhere to eat lunch, and upon looking up places, I found Merryland Buffet. Intrigued, I investigated further and was astounded at the cheap prices and positive reviews. I shared my discovery with my friends, who were very excited to go and see this for themselves. Upon walking into Merryland Buffet, I was greeted by a very nice and polite lady who quickly and efficiently got us situated. I was overwhelmed at the variety of fine cuisine offered at the buffet station, with all sorts of meat, rice, noodles, and even dessert items. The complimentary drinks were also a nice addition, as was the vigilance shown by the workers there to assist us in our feasting. After three plates that were filled with delicious food, I was able to get a DESSERT as well, with ice cream, jell-o, and cake. I normally never tip, but at Merryland Buffet I did not hesitate to show my appreciation for one of the greatest dining experiences of my life.
Normally I've been having one of those days for a couple months, but all that has changed thanks to Merryland Buffet. The people, the food, and the atmosphere have lifted me out of any difficulties I may have been experiencing. Merryland Buffet is a restaurant, a buffet place, and an experience, but most importantly, it's home.
They say at Burger King, you can dine like a king on a budget. At Merryland Buffet, you dine like an Emperor...
Read moreThis is is wonderful and could be a little better if they made it only for adults because too many kid’s running around a crowded place is unacceptable and secondly if they peeled their shrimp for us not having to peel hard shrimp shells to only realize seasoning is only on peels. Also too many bystanders getting take out crowding the already crowded buffet why not delegate an employee to fill up take out orders while customers stand in a uniform line instead of all over the place and lastly please tell your short Asian lady that it’s rude to demand tips just for pointing out which table I can sit on. If we were well off we wouldn’t dine at a discount venue. The food is all delicious but they need more options like meatloaf with mash potatoes and gravy or pulled pork or a roast with vegetables mashed potatoes and gravy or better dumplings with a larger bowl of sauce because the one available is too small & dumplings are always too hard to chew. Add lobster not the skinny lobster wanna be legs I mean the big fat body of lobster and add more cheese to your macaroni then add tacos with trimmings beef refried beans lettuce tomato celantro onion cream salsas red and green but hot and lemon and flour tortillas and hard shell corn. My favorite thing is the popcorn shrimp but they need way more of that because they only have minimal and your beef Asian dishes please cook beef longer. Longer bbq ribs...
Read moreThere were a lot of problems with the food but i'm only going to state some of them.
Fried shrimp had no flavor, all you could taste was the bread
The peas in the rice was uncooked, it was hard and dry
There was hair in the mini cakes.
The boiled shrimp was too salty.
The crab was uncooked.
They had another crab dish but it had imitation crab meat.
The fruits looked like someone bit into them and put them back into the tray.
The pizza had no taste and the dough was still raw.
9.The broccoli wasn't cooked properly.
The sweet fried bread was stale, making it hard to bite into.
Aside from the food, the waiters would always take your plate once you finish and refill your drink but they also have a habit of staring at their customers. I've been there 3 times and i can always see one of the workers staring at me from afar which makes for a very uncomfortable and awkward atmosphere. I do however recommend this place to anyone that's on a budget, you can eat as much as you want for a low price and take out is also cheap. Just don't expect too...
