I dined here with my son. It was one of the most unpleasant experiences. My son and I were one of the two black families at the restaurant. We were seated by the kitchen. No one acknowledged us for a good 45 minutes until I finally stopped a server. The server was confused and stated that the host seems to do this with certain diners, meaning black folks. The other black family was next to us and they too sat and waited because a server wasn't assigned to their table. This also was told to me by the server I stopped. We finally was served. The food was TERRIBLE. I spoke with a manager, who was white and who didn't even want to give us a refund for my food, which was horrible. My son ate his burger and liked it okay. I explained the circumstances to manager, who proceeded to tell me his wife was Hispanic so this is not a racial issue. I explained to him his response was invalidating and his own staff said there's a race issue. My 12 year old son even tried to educate him. The GM got involved while he looked for free Denny meal coupons. It was pathetic and disgraceful. I'm posting a review because they were not accountable, and my own child who is from the new generation even saw the glaring race and discrimination. Additionally, the manager gave us EXPIRED free Denny meal coupons. I noticed the expiration date after we left the establishment. I would question patronizing this establishment. There's a clear difference in how certain people are treated versus others and what kind of dining experience you will have as a Black person or family. We came to celebrate my son and walked out disheartened, but with our heads held high. Do...

Read moreI’ve been to other Denny’s where food plus service was great. I came only once with my family since iHOP was full. We were the first customers there that morning and there was only 1 guy (worker) there which I’m not sure if he was the manager or server but gave us menu and put in our orders. When more workers came in another server came and attended us very well. Some of our orders came out incorrect but he kindly apologized and made sure to fix any deficiencies. I wish I remembered his name. There was 10 of us there so naturally the bill was high (a little too high I think). The food itself was not great ( I only ended up eating eggs from my meal) and pancakes were dry and tasteless. However, we tipped our server well as I believe it’s not his fault the food was bad. Plus he was very attentive and helpful. I come to NY a few time to visit my family members but I don’t think I’ll be taking my family here again.
P.S This was about 6 months ago and we chose breakfast meal. Not sure if it has gotten better or if dinner options are cooked better...
