Really enjoyed the food and service. Nice owner greets at the door. Our waiter was attentive and personable but was careful not to hover. Husband and I were new to the menu. they described the items very well and were patient with my endless questions. We were on our way to ordering too much food, but they suggest we hold off on several items as it would be too much. We appreciated their honesty.
About the food... The Cyprus Meze is a generous sampling of 17 dishes. This is a worthy tasting menu. Pretty delicious! It begins with appetizers and ends with dessert. This is a great value for $22 per order. The kitchen does require at least 2 orders to create this. But two orders can easily feed 3 or more people. Also, don't be in a rush if you order this. Its like a Brazilian churrascaria. They bring the dishes to the table in 4 or 5 stages. Pace yourself. Its a lot of food and the food is good. The meats in particular were phenomenal.
We also ordered grilled octopus and the lemon potatoes. Both were perfect. Nicely seared, tender, not overcooked. At other Greek places they often dredged these two dishes in olive oil. Not here. The chef placed a small dish of citrus infused olive oil along side each dish. A very nice touch.
This is a new restaurant. It has a fresh pleasant atmosphere. Not too fancy. Not too casual. We...
Read moreI’ve visited the restaurant last Saturday and the place was pretty busy. The food was good overall but not of the quality of restaurants back in Greece or Cyprus. The music was quite good but it was a bit uncomfortable to notice the old lady that I believe she was the owner persistently asking the female singers to go and grab some customers, a group of aged men that she looked to know them, and dance with them. That same lady on a couple of occasions came and pushed the chairs of our table, for providing more space to the specific group, without asking us and ignoring the discomfort she was causing. Finally, when I received the final charge on my bank account, it seems that they rounded up the final amount. It may be a few dollars more but that’s so unprofessional. Overall the night started good but ended with a big...
Read moreWas shopping in Astoria and decided to take home some local food for din-din. This place had good looking photos so popped by to order takeout.
On the google menu it said the souvlaki platter came with both a potato side and salad but when I ordered it, she said I had to pick. She said she would add a small salad anyway... they were very nice and offered me a seat and water while waiting.
When I got the good home, I was super excited that it came with tzakiki and toasted breads. Unfortunately, the salad was packed with the hot food and had no feta or seasoning. Chicken had a nice charred flavor, but was super dry. Potatoes were pretty good, I added some thyme to liven it up. I feel this place is better for...
