Being going to stamatis for over 30 years now but I havent being there for 2 years. I am a nurse and I am also 100 percent greek. I decided to take my 7 patience and 3 of my bosses to stamatis because I wanted to treat them all because there my patience and my bosses for 27 years. The food was very good. The service was duscusting. Our female waitress was rude and was saying bad things about us in greek. I didn't tell her that I was greek because I wanted to see how far she will go with her nasty greek attitude. We ordered a lot of food . She was soo angry. She thru 5 of our taramosalata plates on our table and then she came back with 3 plates of skordalia and put them on the end of the table and they fell on the floor. We ordered a lot lot of different types of dishes especially 6 octopus. My bill came to $857 dollars . I paid half in cash and half on my credit card. I gave her 150 dollars cash in tip although she didn't deserve it. As we were all walking out she run to me and said $150 is not enough . I want more tip. I told her in GREEK DEN DREPESAI WHICH MEANS YOUR NOT EMBARRASSED OF YOURSELF. SHE WAS IN SHOCK WHEN I SPOKE TO HER IN GREEK. SHE STILL WANTED MORE AND MORE TIP. THEN I SAID TO HER 150 DOLLARS IS AN EXCELLENT TIP ALTHOUGH U DID NOT DESERVE IT. MY BOSS WHICH IS VERY WEALTHY AND WE ALL WORK FOR SLOAN KETTERING IN MANHATTAN NEVER AGAIN WE WILL BE RETURNING TO STAMATIS BUT BECAUSE WE ARE VERY WEALTHY MY BOSS GAVE HER 50 DOLLARS AND TOLD HER IN HER FACE TO GO TO THD BATHROOM AND CLEAN YOUR MOUTH WITH MY 50 DOLLARS. WE ARS VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE BUT THE WAITRESS WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING. FOR MY BIRTHDAY WHICH IS ON JULY 2 WE WERE SUPPOSED TO COME TO STAMATIS WITH 46 PEOPLE BUT AT THE DOOR WHILE WE WERE LEAVING WE ARE GOING TO GO BOOK A VERY EXPENSIVE PLACE IN PARAMUS NEW JERSEY. STAMATIMOU SE KSERO POLLA XRONNIA THIS MEANS STAMATI WHICH IS THE OWNER I KNOW HIM FOR MANY YEARS. KRIMA POU EXIS SERVITORA POU EINA SKATA ANTROPOS . THAS MY STORY. I WILL BE BACK STAMATI TO SHOW YOU THE WAITRESS BECAUSE WE FORGOT TO ASK FOR HER NAME. THE WAITRESS WAS IN SHOCK WHEN AT THE END I TOLD HER...

I was recommended this place bc of the great Greek food but I didn’t expect such poor dining experience to come with it. I will start by saying I am aware of how hard it’s been during pandemic times and having restaurants cater to customers outside but I felt that what I experienced was deliberate. I asked for a table for 2 and was seated in a nice spot on the corner with my partner and waited over 25 minutes for menus. I had to get up and ask for them since it was as if we were being ignored by ALL the staff. After another 15 minutes we receive bread and water. Our waiter came to greet us and ask what would we like to drink and we were fine with water but wanted straws. It took another 10 minutes for straws. We ended up ordering food afterwards which was a Greek salad with chicken and a chicken slovaki platter. That took about 20 minutes to make and serve. The food was tasty and delicious. We ate our meal in 30 minutes but afterwards we were left there for another 35-40 minutes. I had say out loud we needed a to go box and a check. Keep in mind my partner and I have made eye contact with our waiter for 45 minutes and he knew we were finished by us just sitting there. We were looking at ppl who sat after us getting their food earlier and leaving faster than we were. I will say my partner and I were the only interracial couple there and started to make me wonder if that was reason for the poor service. When I asked my waiter for the box, a runner gave me the box and eventually the waiter came to our table in which we said we would like the check and he was very serious and said that he wants to give us a complimentary dessert in which we declined. To be honest I feel as though he knew he messed up but couldn’t even apologize and own his energy, he just said no wait for the complimentary dessert. My partner said no to the dessert bc we had enough waiting. We paid and left. We walked by the waiter and he didn’t even wish us a good night. Never...

Tuesday October first 2024 I had a very poor dining experience at this restaurant. We were a party of five.travel far to hit “ The Worst Greek restaurant in Astoria” The waitress did not explain anything about their menu. I wanted to ghave a branding on the grill. I assume the branzino on the grill was on the bone like I always had in many good restaurants. The head was on the bone. The body of the fish was not on the bone and it was swimming in lemon butter. When I wanted to open my mouth and talk about how I wanted the fish …this waitress shut my mouth by telling me this fish was absolutely delicious…she never came back to check on me to see if I had gotten what I wanted. I finally, got tired of waiting and decided to eat a little bit of the fish. She was the only server on the floor and could not care less about what I had to say once she dropped the food on our table. Finally, I got the attention of a male young person that came to my table. This person heard my story and told me that she was supposed to ask me wether I wanted the fish on the bone or out of the bone… The server NEVER apologize for not having done a good job of explaining the menu She said I could have asked questions. She was very intentional about selling me what she wanted. She NEVER intended to sell me what I really wanted

The food is of very poor quality. Very poorly presented on the plate…not appetizing And no on really cares about taking good care of their customers On the way out we notice that the sticker on the window that grades the quality of the restaurant is Not graded but…pending. I warn you not to spend your money in this restaurant but check your dining experience in Astoria very thoroughly...

Food and service(Antonio) was tops. Price was exceptionally reasonable. Highly recommended. Porgy and stuffed tomatoes, both very well well made and super tasty. Desert(Galaktobouriko) on the house is not to be passed, even if your full, lol. 08/31/24..me and my family went there today. Consistent with my past experiences, all the food was very good. The service fell off a bit. The main dishes following the appetitizers took a bit longer to come. The water glasses were empty for some time before I pointed it out to our waiter which he filled. At the end, our waiter disappeared and a woman dumped the check on our table and walked away without asking was everything ok, will there be anything else, etc. I mention this for 2 reasons. One, dessert which is complimentary was never given to us. When I paid I made mention of this and the said "oh, they forgot"?? At this point I don't know who they is, lol. Would you like it to go was asked, but I said no thank you. The last time I was here, I ordered a Greek Coffee to have the dessert. The 2nd point and why I attached a copy of my receipt, was to point out that they add a surcharge for the credit card(not a problem and it's also posted) and they put the gratuity on(20%) for 4 people(every place I have been to, it 6 or more). This is not posted, at least I didn't see it in plain view nor did they mention it. To make it worse, they charge the gratuity on the full amount with the SALES TAX included. That's not supposed to be done, gratuity only the product they sold you(food and beverage). Look, the place is still very good, but these things take away, at least for me, from the total experience.

🐟GREEK FOOD IN ASTORIA, Queens ny - @Stamatis.Restaurant / @stamatis.restaurant.astoria 🚗Wanted to explore more of Astoria while we stayed in long island city. This area is known for its Greek community, eaters, and cafes. Super walkable neighborhood and there are two main busy streets we have found After a bit of wandering, we wanted outdoor seating and found Stamatis on the Google map with great reviews. I do have to say, I felt a bit out of place going into this restaurant as we were the only Asians 😅😅or even anyone other than Greek That's how legit this place was! The server was really nice and helped us navigate through their huge menu, recommended a few items: 🦑Grilled octopus 🐟Fresh sea bass 🧀Saganaki (fried cheese) 🐓chicken souvlaki platter with dandelions 🍝Moussaka (egg plant, ground beef, onions, feta, & scallions with besamel cream) I think overall my favorite was the seafood (as usual). Made light with olive oil and herbs, not too heavy. The fried cheese was surprisingly good as it was recommended by the water. Crispy in the outside, melty inside. Thin cut , to be eaten with this red tomato 🍅 paste Instead of the moussaka we were going to order the Nest. It had a beef stew in it but they ran out of that item. The moussaka was like your hearty lasagna without all the carbs . The eggplants and beef together makes the textures consistent but includes the earthy taste of eggplants. I'm sure they smoked or grilled them ahead of time too All in all a great meal! Hope you can wander in there. theres a few really good spots @midwestmunching

I've been going to Stamatis for many years - and most recently went with my husband and mom - for dinner, on a weeknight. I'm Greek, so I'm picky when it comes to Greek restaurants, but Stamatis never disappoints. They have outdoor and indoor dining (in a back garden area), tables are nicely spaced out, and everything is very clean. Our server (Mihalis) was excellent and immediately made us feel welcome. He made suggestions for the wine, and also made some food recommendations. Items Ordered: Saganaki Cheese - Perfectly pan fried, crispy, and tasty. Grilled Octopus - Absolutely delicious. Tender, soft, and very flavorful. Fried Calamari - Light, airy, flavorful, and crispy. Galeos (Baby Shark) with Rice - Perfectly grilled and tender, and rice was fluffy and delicious. Bifteki (Greek Style Burger) with Fries - Charcoal Grilled and very tasty. Fries were perfect. They also serve you toasted bread to start (which is excellent), and at the end of the meal give you a complimentary dessert (Galaktoboureko). Prices are in line with all other Greek restaurants in the area, and the portions are great. Overall a GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
