Rename the restaurant "The Maybe"
As in Maybe you get food or maybe you wont.
Let me start by stating that i was there for a bday get together and the food was on point, drinks as well, the bartender at the back bar was official. So i decided to return and give brunch a shot since i live close by.
We arrive around 12:50, dining room was half full but had to sit all the way in the back at the hi top next to bathroom. Anyway, my friend ordered coffee and i ordered a cold brew. The coffee came 5 min later but no cold brew, ok, I ask my server about it and she says shes going to check on it. Tick, tock, tick, tock, 5 min later she returns and tells me they are making more cold brew. Ok i get it, we place our orders, my friend orders the French Toast with eggs and i order the Biscuits & Gravy with scrambled eggs Yum! Sounds delicious plus we were starving and finally my cold brew came!
Meanwhile we were alone in the back room with just 2 other tables when a softball team comes in and sits at the empty bar next to me, i notice a couple at a hi top in front of us finishing up and then more guests take the table.
Ok now its 1:35pm and my friend is asking me why the food is taking so long, the server stops by and says shes going to check on our order. At this point i notice food being dropped at the bar for the softball team and the couple in front of us and we were there way before them?
I am super patient, but this was not acceptable. I tracked down the server at the server station and I could tell she was discussing my table with another server. She tells me the kitchen messed up and apologized. So after 1 hour, still waiting for my biscuits 'n gravy like I've been waiting for Frank Ocean's new album to drop, i left The Bonnie hangry.
Maybe next time the servers get on top of their tables. Maybe the kitchen can check ticket times. Maybe get a better floorplan and pacing. Maybe a manager can touch a table...
Too much competition in Astoria to make simple mistakes.
One positive note, after walking out i discovered Bubba's Bistro a few blocks away. Just as packed but got brunch in 15 minutes. Thanks Bubba.

Read moreI had one of the worst experiences at Bonnie just now, and it was so frustrating that I had to write this review, specially that I got frustrated with the food here on my last 2 visits, but let's talk just about today. I came here about an hour ago, and the waiter made 2 mistakes ordering the Bonnie burger, first it came just the meat, no cheese nothing and pickes under the Pattie when I clearly ordered the Bonnie burger with no pork belly and no pickes, with Chipotle mayo on the side. So I told the runner that it wasn't mine and he brought it back to the kitchen and I told the waiter that, that one wasn't my order or it was a mistake. 2 minutes after, my girlfriend comes back from the bathroom saying that she saw the food runner cleaning the bathroom, I was like, what?! 🤢 Then 2 minutes later I see him running the garbage to the street from the basement sidewalk door as I was sitting right inside by the window that faces the sidewalk. I just couldn't believe my eyes, so I ran to the waiter and asked him to NOT let that guy run my food as he is running the garbage and he was cleaning the bathroom right before... what in the world?!! I guess this is what happens when there's no manager present running the business and careless owners who never visit their own restaurants. The burger came and it had no taste, and it was missing the Bonnie sauce under the pattie... I wanted to go to the kitchen at this point and meet the cook who made my food and tell him to look for another job as he's not qualified for the position. The cheese wasn't even melted, and he used the bun from the 1st mistaken burger, because it was cold. I addressed the situation with the waiter who was very attentive and responsive to my frustration at every single step. Please Bonnie, train your cooks to perform like the chef, or replace them with professionals who has the mindset of taking pride on everything they make. I won't come here again to pay $17+ for burger that is not made with love. Lack of management and staff training should be on the priority list...
Read moreSEARCH NO MORE for your next intimate & fun party venue! CHARLIE'S, The Bonnie's sister bar right next door was everything I dreamed of and more for my 30th Birthday party. Let me set the scene for ya'll... 35 of my closest friends, Game of Thrones themed decor & fits, cocktails that made everyone say "I drink and I know things" and the most fire food in the neighborhood... the party was a SLAY. Tali, the company's event coordinator, is the sweetest, most hard-working, and detail-oriented, especially when it comes to your event. She even went above and beyond to surprise me with a GOT themed menu by naming my cocktails after details of life. For example, she named the spicy margarita after my dog, "Kevyn the Kingslayer." COME ON! How amazing is that?! Speaking of cocktails... the incredible bartender, Olivia, bartended Red Witch magic with the amazing cocktails she made for everyone. She even dressed along with the theme, with her sword, serving vibes that was giving Night's Watch combined with Red Keep of the Bar. Everyone kept raving about every cocktail she made with style and care. When it comes to the food, The Bonnie always delivers, so of course my hopes were high for Charlie's. AND MY HOPES WERE MET! The ham and cheese toastie platter was delicious. The franks in a blanket were some of the best I've ever had. The beef sliders were a HUGE hit. And there were veggie options so we had the veggie quesadilla and the mac and cheese bites which were a crowd favorite. Overall, this party at Charlie's made me feel like Daenerys Targaryen on top of her Throne, like the Queen that was promised. Thank you to the Bonnie's manager Gerard for popping in to see if everything was going smoothly as well! That was so sweet. To The Bonnie/Charlie's staff - Tali, Olivia, Gerard, barbacks - Marvin & Pascual, and the talented chefs/kitchen staff, thank you so much! Your...
