DiWine Natural Wine Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

(12/1) My husband and I just went there for apps and wine, and we've been many times before but tonight was gravely different. Our waitress took our order, didn't write anything down, and when our food came out they brought us mussels and we said "oh we ordered the baked clams, not the mussels." The girl who dropped the food off (who was the bartender) was super apologetic and said they'd swap it out. Then our original waitress came over and said "did you mean clams when you said mussels?" I politely said, "no we said the baked clams." She responded, "no you didn't." stared at me, rudely said okay, and walked away. She then proceeded to avoid our table for 30 minutes and we were never brought the correct food item. It was a wild experience. The bartender was LOVELY but this specific waitress (who had short black hair and glasses) was beyond rude. We definitely would have ordered more food or wine, but because of her we cashed out and left. We won't return, which is sad because it used to be a great place!

UPDATE: I DM’d the restaurant on IG and one of the owners, Arman messaged me back very quickly. He was very apologetic and receptive, he said, “I'm sorry that you had this experience at DiWine tonight, I know that you visited us often and it's really unfortunate that this happened to you. Her behavior was incredibly unprofessional something we don't ever expect from the people who work with us at DiWine, and not something that happens often at our restaurant. I appreciate you letting us know about this directly, I will make sure to find your check from this evening and void the bill to help make up for your poor experience. I know it's still not enough as a ruined night is something hard to get back. so I am happy to invite you again to come visit us if you have any time, would love to give you one of our new wines on the house.“

I am going to remove or update this review once we return and can overwrite this experience with a positive one.

UPDATE 2(12/31/2022): My husband and I went back and had an amazing experience. Our waiter Leo was great and the food was delicious. We finally got those baked clams lol. Thank you to Arman for making us feel heard and appreciated...

We celebrated my husbands big birthday there and were looking into few restaurants prior to deciding on Diwine… Joao (event planer and bartender there) was the first one to email us the approximate cost estimate, right after we just left the Diwine! We heard from other few restaurants we were looking into- after the party! Such amazing service , so quick, genuine, professional and very caring! We just briefly told him how we imagined the party to be and he knew exactly! Right away he gave us few options! The party itself was amazing! They decorated the restaurant so we didn’t have to worry about anything! The atmosphere was simply perfect! Every single person who works there was hands on, our guests kept complimenting us during the party and even now, over a week later , we are receiving messages and calls! The food… service and food is hard to describe, one feels like in one of the high end restaurants on the upper east side! I worked in 5* hotels for more than 20 years and service and food at Diwine overpassed every luxury experience I ever had! I would highly recommend this cozy, lovely place for a intimate party for up to 70 ppl( we originally had 50 but it turned out to be 70) ! If you’re looking for a place with great food and amazing service , look no further! I never have 5* but Diwine deserves even more ! I can’t wait to go there for dinner...

I was so impressed by Diwine. Starting with the person taking my reservation on the phone. He was so polite and very helpful. We were sat right away despite the fact that the rest of my group was not there. We were a party of 10. They were also so accommodating to my dad in the wheelchair! There was only one servers and one bartender and the place eventually got full and not once did we feel rushed or not taken care of. The server was amazing. She never seemed stressed, frazzled or upset! Everything was brought out in a timely fashion and she was always so kind! The food was delicious!! I had picked this place because there was a nice selection of vegetarian options and it didn't disappoint. The truffle mac and cheese was amazing! The pizzas were spectacular. We tried the tuna tartar, calamari and both the oysters on the half shell and Cajun style and it was all terrific! Everything was so fresh! For entees we tried the burger and the prime rib and all was perfectly cooked. We wine & cocktails as well. The favorite was the pecan rye and the maybe in my opinion. The dessert was great too! We tried all 3! 😁, totally delicious. We will definitely be back for a date night! Thank you for the excellent service and delicious food...
