As a coffee enthusiast, I'm always on the hunt for a roastery that truly understands the art of coffee. Sadly, Do Not Feed Alligator misses the mark by a mile. My friend recommended this place, but I'm starting to question their taste! First impressions matter, and unfortunately, the barista's attitude was as bitter as an over-extracted espresso. I ordered a pistachio latte and an Ethiopia Keramo pour over, hoping for a delightful experience. Before my coffee arrived, I requested a cup of water as a palate cleanser – a standard practice in the world of specialty coffee. The barista, with an audible sigh and a withering glare that could curdle milk, begrudgingly poured me a glass of tap water. Tap water! It was clear that the concept of providing a proper water for tasting was completely lost on them. And speaking of lost, my pour over was tragically lost in the realm of under-extraction. The resulting cup tasted more like dishwater than a delicate Ethiopian coffee. When I attempted to politely explain this to the barista, I was met with the same disinterest I might receive from a houseplant. Clearly, there's a lack of knowledge, passion, and basic customer service skills at play here. If you're simply looking for a caffeine fix, this place might suffice. But for those who appreciate the art and science of specialty coffee, you'll only find disappointment and a desperate craving for a real...
Read moreThe lattes are fine, but my review is about the service. This morning, I was met with a level of rudeness that warrants a warning for other prospective customers. I was referred to this coffee shop by a server at Buvette who told me it was spacious and they allowed laptops. I guess he was mistaken or they've recently changed their rules because after I ordered a latte, I noticed a small sign on the counter that said no laptops allowed. However, I only had 3 minutes before my 30 minute staff meeting started. Not enough time to go elsewhere. I saw that the back patio was completely empty (somewhat wet and very cold so low chance of anyone else sitting there). I figured I could sneak back there, take my meeting and then head out. Boy was I wrong! Within 10 minutes of my meeting starting, a man came out to tell me that laptops were not allowed. I told him I was in the middle of a meeting and would head out as soon as it ended. 10 minutes later he came back, visibly angry and yelled at me that he had already told me laptops were forbidden. I had to turn my camera off so I could tell him my meeting was ending in 10 minutes and I'd leave as soon as it did. He left in a huff and I could see him complaining to the baristas. I understand that I broke the rules but there was no need for that level of aggression. I felt like a delinquent. Needless to say, I will never be back and I will warn...
Read moreFirst of all no one should ever give bad reviews becoz one’s negligence. Many cafe now in NY is laptop free. I hope coffee lover can understand it and pay attention or mind to ask when you walk in. I am a coffee lover and I write about coffee in New York. This is one of the best cafe I have been to. I will give a five stars just because the barista gave us a really beautiful latte arts to our coffee. It really made our day, these days not all baristas will give u more than a small heart ♥️, not even on a week day there are no line in the store, but truly appreciate it. Coffee that we ordered are Matcha and Hojicha latte. I will say it is the best I had in a long time, the matcha powder doesn’t have those grainy residues well mixed enough same to the Hojicha. Not bitter or dry very beautiful aroma. Bakery are from Lacabra thats what I heard it’s definitely one of the best. I didn’t try it but will come back next time. I love the no laptop police so I was able to set by the beautiful window and admire the latte and the snowfall yesterday. ( by the way I love the blue coffee mug just want to own them) They have a beautiful backyard can’t wait for a better weather to set there. Not a large cafe but spacious enough may not be for weekend always crowded. Love the bakery display the level of detail presentation is just amazing. Love if try it and don’t bring...
