I have been meaning to stop by the place after passing it the first time and seeing the giant chocolate doughnut in the window! I can't remember the last time I had a really good doughnut. I purchased the Café au lait and Chocolate with Coca nibs. Each doughnut was about $6 each.
The Café au lait was heavenly. They definitely put the dough in doughnut. The inside was so soft, perfect moisture level, and not dry. You can taste the café part of Café au Lait in the doughnut glaze which was also giving a caramel taste and texture as well. The cinnamon sugar pecan crumble on top added an extra layer of sweetness and crunch.
As for the Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs I saving that for tomorrow and will update this review then but if it is anything like Café au lait and as a chocolate lover, I doubt it will disappoint!
Update: So the Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs was good but as chocolate lover this donut was only mediocre. The name is a bit deceiving and the visual does aid the deception. The Chocolate Doughnut with Cocoa nibs isn't a chocolate doughnut (ie the dough isn't chocolate) it is a regular doughnut with chocolate glaze and Coca nibs. This is giving the same energy as, "is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting a chocolate cake?". No culinary person, restaurant, or chocolate lover would agree to that statement. The visual of the doughnut makes it look like it is, only if you turn the doughnut all the way over will you be able to tell that is. I'm not going to ding them for that but I would recommend updating the description to match the product. Otherwise, the staff was friendly. Hopefully, I will be able to try their coffee next time.
Highly recommend this place and will be coming back...
Read moreI enjoyed Dough a lot when they were first established and then stopped going for a while because their freshness/quality seemed to go down for a while. However, I returned after a few years and the donuts here were pretty fresh.
These donuts are pretty bready and large, airy and chewy. They're brioche donuts but they have some aspects of a good yeast donut (airy, chewy) but with more dense/chewy/bready texture. Strawberry Shortcake was by far my favorite one and it is one of their best sellers.
Nutella filled is what you expect it to be, yum. Cafe au Lait was good but it a bit subtle (I like a strong coffee flavor) Ube Cheesecake (limited edition) definitely agree with the remarks that it is cheesecake forward and subtle ube-wise but still yummy and cool nonetheless.
If they kept using more asian flavors for their inspiration for future donuts I would be so happy and keep...
Read moreThe donuts were mediocre but the customer service was the worst. The bald guy misplaced almost every donuts and got mad when I asked him a question about if the donut was the right one. He then proceeded to go on about how service workers are under appreciated while throwing the donuts into the bag very rudely. I hadn’t been rude and was still using words like please and thank you while he made me feel unwelcomed. The donuts were all mixed up and looked so badly packed. I understand having a bad day but not showing it to customers. He was extremely polite to the Caucasian customer in the front but extremely and unnecessarily rude to me and my sister who was evidently POC. What made it worse was that he was a POC himself. The donut was just thrown into the bag with no effort. I felt uncomfortable and extremely unwelcomed. You...
