Edo — Restaurant in New York

I was going to give 4 stars but i had to speak to them inside before i made up my mind.

The problem is that Edo is a good place with quality rolls and competitive price; however, i cannot stand when i pay for something and not get it.

Details: there is a roll with red caviar (ikura) on the menu: Florida roll. It costs 16$ as of 7/19/2023. This roll is supposed to have red caviar on top but apparently Edo doesnt have red caviar and are using masago instead and charger SAME price as for caviar. I had a problem with it so i went in to talk to them. After speaking to their front desk lady, i asked to speak to manager, in a few seconds, a gentleman came and said that they would give me a one-time discount (since my order was already completed but i have not yet paid for it probably).

This problem is easy to solve but it doesnt look like anyone else complained since i was told that 'everyone else is fine and im only one complaining'.

FYI: i have been a long time Mitoushi (kings hwy) loyal customer but Edo did look like a close competitor(not any more). Mitoushi has a crazy salmon roll that has red caviar and 50% more salmon and in general a much bigger roll and it costs exactly the same price.

Too bad Edo has to lose customer over their incompetence and failure to update menu (or price)

I wanted to like this place. The lack luster food has forced me to throw out my lunch on two different occasions. First time I bought the lunch special, the brown rice was so overcooked it resembled and had the consistency of oatmeal and my chicken with broccoli looked as if it was the leftovers from the night before. It was hard and swimming in grease from them trying to reheat. I threw out the food after my first bite. The second time, (today) I walked in and ordered two sushi rolls and the stir fried udon with beef. My order was ready and sitting on the counter. The two workers handling orders did not let me know my order was sitting there. I had to ask if my order was ready after about 10 mins, then they gave it to me. The stir fried udon was so greasy, i immediately felt nauseous after my first bite. I attributed it to me being hungry and having gas so I stopped eating and Drank some tea to settle my stomach. After an hr I tried to eat again and once again felt nauseous. I ate the two rolls and those settled fine. Just everytime I eat the stir fry my stomach is angry. Holy moly this place was so fantastic!!! The sushi was delicious and prepared in front of us at the little sushi bar! We started with the coconut shrimp and they were absolutely amazing. I tried a menu item called the Lychee ice water and it was probably one of the best drinks I’ve ever had in my life, in addition to the fresh lychee fruits in the drink the flavor was incredible & authentic, the drink was sweet yet delicious and refreshing, we ended up ordering two in to go cups for the road to enjoy it a little longer! The staff was super friendly & accommodating, I think we met the owner since we were there a little late and he assured us it was okay & to take our time! Of course though we left early enough for them to close up out of respect :) overall a great experience that we will most certainly go back for! I’m still thinking about that...
