I was extremely disappointed when I had lunch there with my wife. Last week we had lunch at the Sunflower Restaurant in Cederhurst, LI and we enjoyed it. Today we went to the Sunflower Restaurant in Brooklyn on Quentin Road for lunch. Our order(s) were similar but the service wasn’t. The paninis come with some side dish choices. In Cederhurst there’s a choice of some salads or French fries. In Brooklyn they give you the choice of some salads but no option for French fries. Since we were ordering a couple panini dishes and soup we wanted a variety to help make our lunch more interesting. We asked for one panini dish with salad and requested French fries for the other panini dish. The waiter said he was not able to switch the salad for French Fries. We told the waiter that the other Sunflower restaurant in Cederhurst accommodated us just last week. He said he could not. We asked the manager if he could please accommodate us in a similar fashion to the other Sunflower Restaurant in Cederhurst. He said no he can not. I don’t understand why! It’s not like the French fries are more expensive than the salad or it’s something that’s just not ever done. Especially when there’s another restaurant with the same name which is either the same owner or franchise that does accommodate accordingly. I felt that they were just being spiteful, unaccommodating and petty which was totally uncalled for. Especially when you’re in a business that should value new customers and customer retention which is the foundation of almost any business.. especially restaurants! Even after lunch the manager was still both stubborn and uncaring that he was unaccommodating. I would most probably not return to that...

I will start by saying that I only gave 2 stars because the food was delicious. But the service...was atrocious. I had enthusiastically chosen to take my husband and his family (visiting from California) here and I was let down. The first time we saw the server was when she was taking our order with a zombielike demeanor. The last time we saw the server was when we got our food. No water, no utensils for my child, no napkins. We approached the counter to ask for napkins for the table and were given one single napkin paired with an attitude. We proceeded to eat our food with no waiter in sight still. Upon finishing, and with no bill in hand, we went to the counter and mentioned this absurdity to the manager (maybe owner). She had ZERO response, interest, or comfort about her. She directed us to talk to the server who himself didn't know what to say or do and only directed us to the credit card machine. The only consolation was from the apologetic man behind the counter who said we can skip the tip and offered us cold water to go. We didn't skip the tip because we aren't those people, though we did tip less than we would have because of the disgusting treatment. The management (particularly the unbothered woman sitting in the front with the highlights) needs to understand how to treat patrons, train staff properly, and direct energy towards...

Was there this Sunday, July 31st with my family. 2 kids, 3 adults. We sat down at 5:35pm and were brought water and 4 cups only. We were ready to order as soon as we entered, but no server came by us. I went myself and told a server we were ready to order 10 minutes later. We ordered 2 appetizers, 5 entrees and free bread (offered by the server). Almost an hour later we didn't receive any food and no server came to check on us even once. I went to complain. Finally we got one of the appetizers with no plates and still no 5th cup. I tell the server I'm unhappy, he tells me he has no control over the kitchen. Soonafter at about 6:40pm we got the rest of our food all at once, except for the free bread, although it was on the receipt. I can understand where the server is coming from but I disagree with the server. How do you not check on your clients for an hour? Could've definitely gotten us a 5th cup sooner than me having to ask for it an hour later and you could've advocated for us to get bread or something? Horrible service overall. Another family of 5 technically got there after us and I saw they were all eating before we got any of our food. Really hard not...

When a restaurant's menu leaves you unsure of what to order because you want to order everything, you know they do things right. While it's primarily a brunch place, they do have a full menu and are open as late as 10:30pm on Sundays for dinner. The highlight here, at least for me, are the sandwiches. They come on toasty sesame bread and are loaded with melty cheese, guac, veggies, egg, pesto, or any combination you want. The guac is great, so be sure to get it, either as an appetizer, or as part of the guac salad, or the guac sandwich. Pasta is a good one too, and so is the fish. Lemonanas are this fresh slushy minty lime drink that cannot be replicated. They've got stuffed baked potatoes, soups, and a pretty large wait staff (maybe even too many people for 6pm on a Sunday). This place gives off good vibes, despite the fact that prices seem to have gone up in recent years. You also need to ask for water and bread for the table. It's primarily a Jewish and Israeli crowd, and an Israeli wait staff. Ask for the charif (spicy sauce) and all of the dressings and sauces, they know what they are doing.

Went there today with my wife for a brunch and came away very impressed. The ambiance was hectic but charming and was full of people. The waiters were nice and the food was delivered very timely despite how full it was. Very often when going to restaurants that are old like sunflower the food starts getting worse as time goes on and chef gets lazy, however I can vouch that the food was fresh and delicious, very impressed considering the restaurant is over 20 years and has still not lost there touch. Personally I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks, they came with yummy goey cheese and didn’t harden like most mozzarella sticks! The omelette with Zatar pita was also great, it had a nice blend of acidity from the tomatoes which blended well with the goat cheese topping. Highly recommend and will come back!

I love this cafe very much. Everything is so tasty and always fresh, but what the hell is this? I called for a delivery and the total was 71$. Everything was great except the size of this sandwich! I ordered from this place countless times, for delivery and dine in and I have never seen the size of the sandwich so small, it’s 14.95$. Usually the sandwiches are so big they barely fit into the container. It was probably that one piece of bread that size but don’t serve it to a customer, keep your sizes the same for all customers.
