Firstly, I’ll start by saying that I’m a Dominican woman who grew up in Washington Heights going to Dominican restaurants is not a big thing for me and my family because it’s just a part of our day to day, right? Well- here’s the thing…El Tina was something of a treasure to us in Washington Heights so when I moved away- I missed my food from El Tina. While walking to the hotel above the Apollo from my yoga class at Method Collective on 12 ave I stumbled across this NEW AND IMPROVED location for TINA in HARLEM 🤩😩thank God, because it was looking grim for me in the Sunday brunch department. I wanted robust, and flavorful foods that would satisfy me enough to make me ā€œclean the plate! My daughter and I ordered our favorites. For her- TRES GOLPES & of course CHICHARRON de cerdo. For myself- I was craving MONDONGO con ARROZ BLANCO. I promise you that it was JUST LIKE MY CHILDHOOD crept back into my life for one Sunday afternoon. For drinks my daughter immediately ordered a MORIR SOƑANDO 🄰😩 it was so nice that it wasn’t sprinkled with cinnamon powder the way unauthentic places tend to do it. I ordered a MODELO ESPECIAL beer and I absolutely PROMISE you that the beer was SO ICE COLD that I was glad I didn’t have it until after eating all my Mondongo & rice- otherwise I wouldn’t have had any room for all that delicious food! TEN OUT OF TEN!!! I absolutely recommend!

Nothing is better than a good bowl of Sancocho on a very rainy day and El Tina restaurant is where I decided to go. The restaurant is small but has ample seating for diners to sit. On entrance, you’re warmly greeted with a smile. Servers can be seen wearing netting over their hair as they serve the food from a buffet set up. This is a big plus for me. The food portions are very generous for the price. Equally so, the taste is out of this world and well seasoned. I added a little bit of hot sauce to give my Sancocho a little umph as i like my soups spicy. Try El Tina if you want good Spanish food and great customer service. You will be treated like family.

I have been to this restaurant around 8 times. The first 2 visits the same older woman took my order she was great next couple visits the slim tall kid he is very respectful but during the visit this one man who is always behind the register is always watching me. I always order the bake fish so i enter the restaurant he screamed out we dont have no fish i look up like you talking to me i just turn back around how would he at that time know i came for fish i wasnt even in the restaurant for 10 seconds. I come a few more time this man make sure the females didnt take my order his approach to me was nasty mind you he will not let nobody else take my order he is trying to show me his authority when its small and weak to me and everybody who is black that come to that restaurant feel the same way. The last time i was there he took my order when i clearly try to avoid having eye contact with him and have another individual take my order when i got back to my job the ordered i requested yellow rice and bake chicken he cut out the meat and only put bones in my plate with bad parts of the chicken. Instead of going back to the restaurant and make a small situation a big situation i just trashed the the food waste of money because this man is a racist from what im told and experience for myself. I have 2 councilmen who support my job which been in business since 1996 i will make sure they address this issue because the fact stand is i was supporting the restaurant due to the great food but that man is racist to be one mean you have hate for people who are out of...
