I went in yesterday for a quick latte to warm up, before I ordered I asked if there was a minimum for debit card orders which they said was $5. Cool, no problem. I ordered a medium latte, grabbed a croissant and to not be that guy to just hit the minimum, decided to grab an extra treat (marble chocolate loaf bread thingy). The nice lady asked to stay or to go, to which I replied, to stay. Mind you, I looked at all the prices before I ordered, as they are plainly listed above on the wall. I was using my girlfriends debit card and don't like to go crazy with her money. When I go up, plate in my hand as to not leave a mess, they handed me my receipt. $9.60 or something. I asked, "any reason why everyting is $.50 more?". Her initial response was too garbled and mumbled to make out. So I repeated the question, to which she replied "it's because you stayed". Puzzled, I asked "because I stayed?". Which she said "yes". Now, the medium latte was all foam, and yes I know lattes are foamy but this was half the cup foamy. Everything else was good though. But why a penalty to stay at a CAFE for 10 mins? Regardless, nice staff but seriously? Charged more because I sat down in...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking to enjoy a coffee and pastry after dinner on Saturday night. We arrived at 9:20pm thinking it would be plenty of time, as they close at 10:00pm. They already cleaned the espresso machine, so we ordered regular coffee with milk. We also ordered a small Linzer tart and a piece of strawberry shortcake. We walk toward one of the tables to sit when one (of the two) women became agitated stating that they would be closing. Again we asked if they close at 10pm and she said yes. At this point it is now 9:25pm when we sat and she brought us the coffee and pastry. When she put down my plate she looked at me and said, “I will need these plates in 10 minutes so that I can wash them.” She then walked over to the stereo and turned off the music. Needless to say, we were extremely uncomfortable, ate fast, and left by 9:30pm. The way we were treated, and made to feel, ensured that we will not be returning. As far as the food, the coffee was ok, the cookie was ok, the cake was dense and...
Read moreAfter walking by their enticing display on multiple occasions, I finally decided to pop in. They have a full assortments of small tarts/pastries, French macaron, cookies, cakes, and cupcakes.
We went for an order of spinach pie, mini cannolis, red velvet cupcake, and a slice of cheesecake.
The red velvet cupcake was so disappointingly DRY and tasted like it had been in the display for a week. Cheesecake wasn’t bad - just if you were expecting a rich, thick, and creamy slice, you’d also be sorely disappointed. Their cheesecake was more on the light/airy side.. not bad if you know what to expect. The cannolis were pretty good, standard crispy shell, filling not too sweet.
The one and only reason I would come back to this bakery - their spinach pie. I took this to go and ate it for breakfast the next morning after popping it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes and it was so good. Perfect spinach-dough ratio, filo dough...
