Essex Burger — Restaurant in New York

A few things, I am not one to typically write a review but I feel so strongly about this place that I feel I need to write this review. The first time I ordered here my order didn't go through but it charged my card. I went to the employees about this and she had to get the manager. I said that was no problem however the manager came 10 minutes later, if I had a flight to catch this would have been way too long. The manager comes and is quite frankly no help at all. I show her the charge on my card and she said it is pending and that it won't go through. I said that's not typically how it works at my bank and that everything says it is pending for a day or two. She dismissed me and told me to order again, one you could ask and not say just order and pay again. I just walked away and respectfully said I had a flight to catch even though I just wasn't dealing with that situation. Anyway now here I am a day or two later and guess what there is still a charge on my account. Also there was a 5% fee for employee retention and they wanted me to tip. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Delicious burgers and wings… the drinks… chef’s kiss. Airport food is most time meh but there are a few gems out there and the Essex Burger LGA is one of them. We had a BBQ burger and Essex wings. The burger was prepared to the requested temperature and the wings had a sweet and crunchy glaze to them. Absolutely delicious. We also had cocktails. My hubby had a vodka soda with a splash of cranberry and I had a margarita with 1800 blanco tequila. The bartender l, Mayra T, makes what I have to say is the best margarita I’ve had in a long time, maybe ever and I’ve been to many Mexican restaurants and enjoyed many margaritas. Shout out to Mayra for her amazing customer service, which truly makes the difference in any restaurant experience. I made the mistake of ordering the fish and chips here before a trip, and it turned out to be a big disappointment. The fish was dry, bland, and wrapped in a greasy, heavy batter. After forcing myself to eat one piece, I ended up tossing the rest—it simply wasn’t worth it.

The chicken wings were okay but far from great—dry and lacking juiciness, though they had a decent flavor. The hot dog was probably the best of the bunch, with soft bread, onions, and mustard, but still nothing that would make me want to come back just for it.

On a scale of 1 to 10, the overall experience was around a 5 at best. With airport food prices being what they are, I’d hoped for much better quality. If you’re in a rush and need something to fill you up, the hot dog or wings might do the job, but I’d definitely skip the...
