Filly Luv - the best fried chicken sandwich and boba tea — Restaurant in New York

I wish I could echo the sentiments of other reviewers, however, I was HIGHLY disappointed and appalled by this restaurant. I want to be clear: I take writing these reviews seriously because I know how difficult it is to run a business (I have worked in a lot of restaurants and have family in the industry).

I walked in at 7:10pm on 2/8/2024 and was greeted by a rude woman. My partner and I asked if we could dine-in and were told they were “closing down.” We placed our order at 7:15pm regardless because we wanted to support a local, Black owned business. We DID NOT get our food until 8:10pm. The woman working the front was extremely rude, unwelcoming, and did have any customer service skills as we watched her speak to at least 10-15 other customers in the same manner. I listened as she became irritated with a guest who asked what various Boba Teas were. The entire “vibe” was lackluster and uncomfortable. I’ve received better service at my local ER where people actually have lives on the line and time is of the utmost importance. This spot? No.

The food: the food wasn’t bad (it was lukewarm by the time we ate at 8:40pm), but it wasn’t great and for $50 (PLUS 20% tip), I expect it to be great. This is one of the most disappointing and pathetic experiences I have had a local restaurant. Do better, the community...

FL is my newest addiction and the latest locally owned spot I've made it my personal mission to support to keep open. Terrible sentence structure aside, on the real, this spot is indeed my newest go-to. I've tried each of their sauces to date and yet my favorite is the naked chicken. Whereas others say the sauces might be on the spicy side, I disagree, which is why I like the naked dipped in some of that amazing sriracha tobasco. Customer service is always amazing and I love interacting with staff as they always laugh at my corny jokes and generally just have amazing energy. Portion sizes are enough to divide into two meals (realistically they will be two snacks, but still) so I love getting them for lunch and having the rest for dinner. The only negative about the spot is that at times, the music can be too loud, and when coupled with the loud exhaust fan, it can be difficult to hear. But all in all, a cool little spot to get your chicken on when settling in for a netflix and chill night or just grabbing a hearty plate when settling in for a game (or few). I’m not one to bash anyone’s establishment, however, I have to be honest. I am addicted to tiktok and I saw a review on this place and couldn’t wait to try the food. I love the owner’s story and I love to support. As soon as I walk in I was greeted and my interaction with the staff was pleasant. The food on the other hand was not so pleasant. My order took some time to be prepared so I’m thinking oh yes fresh food is coming up. The chicken sandwich was fresh, however, the fries were extremely cold. I informed the cashier and she hesitated to do anything until the chef stated he’ll give me a new batch. My fries were not new, in fact it was microwaved. I couldn’t even finish them. Now back to the chicken sandwich. It was great flavor but it wasn’t as great as the tiktoker made it seem to be. Everyone taste palette are different but I honestly wasn’t expressed to go back. I also ordered an ice tea and it tasted like the store bought ice tea my mom used to make us as kids. I would never tell anyone not to try a place especially if there were people that enjoyed the food. Please try it. You never know...
