as someone who is both Asian and Black (mixed), visiting this place was deeply disheartening. i have always made it a point to support asian-owned businesses, (my own father runs one in queens) but the way i was treated here the last time i came here to eat left me absolutely devastated and feeling degraded. every time i have come, i have been met not with hospitality, but with suspicion, hostility, and blatant racial profiling.
but that was fine! i still loved supporting businesses like these. the food is mediocre, concerning in quality and appearance time to time, but i didn't mind, i liked the prices and i can't get too picky as a broke college student (haha). this was all until one day, i was falsely accused of stealing and not paying, despite doing absolutely nothing wrong. me and the staff went back and forth for a while, and instead of reviewing the cameras or checking their own payment records, the staff chose to humiliate and target me without cause. their aggression was immediate and unwarranted, and i felt so confused and upset.
i had heard whispers of this happening to others but never imagined it would happen to me, or thought i'd handle it a certain way. you never know until the moment comes, and it's absolutely soul crushing, leaves you thinking a lot. i walked in hoping to support a community i come from and love, and left feeling betrayed, humiliated, and completely unwelcome. absolutely no one deserves to be treated like this. and from talking to other people who have been here about this, apparently this hasn't been the first time. you are far better off eating elsewhere — somewhere you won’t be racially profiled, falsely accused, or treated like you are less than human. especially if you have melanin in your skin.
it pains me to say it, but this business desperately needs to reflect on how it treats its customers before it drives away even more people who simply wanted to show...
Read moreUnbelievable, the quality for the price. It’s $12 on weekdays for adults, and the food is insanely good quality! I really hope they don’t jack up the prices anytime soon, this is probably the best value buffet I’ve ever been to. My only complaint is the servers. The people at the front are great, very professional, don’t smile much but they’re great. But the waitresses are very panicked and hectic all the time, every time I go there, the servers completely ignore my table until I’m about halfway done, and they collect the plates. I haven’t ever been there when a waitress came by and just filled up the empty water cup, I usually have to hail one down every single time, which is super inconvenient. They charged us for two drinks once, which was fine, but I didn’t realize until after I asked for a water. I wanted to ask for a soda the next time the waitress came by, but she pretty much didn’t come by. I had to call one woman over from three tables away instead. Super inconvenient, especially when they first opened, because I think they hired maybe two waitresses for that HUGE restaurant. They’ve hired more now, but this problem is still persistent. I’m ranting, but all in all the food is phenomenal, price is amazing, the atmosphere is sleek and elegant, but the waitresses need to be more attentive toward the seated customers. Still would reccomend though!
Edit: changed my service review to 5 stars!! Just visited recently and they’ve upped their game big time. My waitress was the sweetest lady ever, she asked whether I wanted water ONLY when she saw that I wasn’t chewing food. I saw her entertaining this little baby a table over and she was so sweet to all the kids around. She diligently watched my table and many others and I had a lovely experience. Overall I’d say the wait staff has largely improved and I would absolutely recommend this place. Give these waitresses a...
Read moreMy first time going to Flaming Grill & Buffet: The location is excellent and it was easy to get to (although I don't feel very safe in that area as I live a bit far away (at least an hour by train). The food is acceptable, you can't expect anything gourmet "you get that you pay for". But, Their fries are delicious compared to other buffets 🍟 There wasn't much variety (I still filled up very quickly and couldn't taste all the food). I loved the Fries, Fried Rings, Fried Chicken, Chicken Skewer, Hibachi Chicken, Seafood Soup, Mushroom, Fried Tilapia, Mussels, But I was a little disappointed for the spring roll, bbq spare ribe, filled scallops and others because it was very cold and the consistency was hard to chew 🙁 Also the ice creams there was no variety and the ones that were there really had no flavor for me. I also liked that all the meals had their legend to know what it is (both in Chinese and English). The staff is really friendly and they have a lot of energy. All the staff (recepcion desk and waiters) from what I saw are fast, respectful and hardworking women!!! I am very grateful with them because a staff like this makes the visit really warm and pleasant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🙌 A really positive point because in other Buffets the waiters don't even smile, they seem unhappy doing their job or demand you give tips... The bathroom surprised me by how clean it was and it didn't smell bad 👍 I would really like come back again and bring my friends and family to try Sushi and Hibachi✨ PD. Here they give you fortune cookies before ending your stay, that's very...
