Our reviews had over 56 million views so far this year and Fresco by Scotto is one of our #1 favs. So Tasty!!! 4 more visits. Perfect each time. OMG seafood risotto had tons of mussels and tons of clams. Yummy. WOW, fantastic in all respects. Before I get to the food I have to admit that we were seated in the center of the celebrity universe and I am a bit reluctant to post this because I fear I will look like a school girl or fanboy, but I was awestruck for sure by several of my favorite stars being seated beside us. More on that later, first the food. Spectacular. Started with the Whole Milk Burrata which was served warm and is made on site. Full of flavor and soft like a breast implant which is the way I love it. She had the Lobster Arancini which was really good and had lots of lobster. Be sure to get both. She had the Rigatoni Bolognese which was thick, good chewy and tons of flavor in the veal and chicken sauce. I had the Chitarra with Beef Meatballs. Awesome. Meatballs were fall apart soft with great seasoning and flavorful. Chitarra was very good made in house by the way. Desserts are HUGE. All of them were great but we loved the banana pudding, the ricotta cheese cake and the doughnuts with dipping sauce the best. We were seated in a corner table and our waiter Alan was wonderful. He has been there forever and has a lovely Scottish accent. He knows the food inside and out and had lots of great suggestions. Now for the celebs. First see the photos below. After we sat down they seated ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith next to us. Very nice man for sure. Then comes in Geraldo Rivera my hero. They sat him 2 tables from me and I was in awe like a school girl. Between us was the restaurants founders widow and her grandson. The grandson was a joy to speak to and he gave us a lot of the history of the place and told us about the food. He was banned from eating there as a child by his grandmother because he ate there so often so he really knew the menu inside and out. Then in comes Former Governor Chris Christie who sits down with Stephen A. Smith. What a power table. Christie said hello to almost everyone and for each person he made some hilarious comment mostly self deprecating. He really captured the room. He left everyone laughing. Finally Joe Johnson from “Mornings in NYC” fame joins Geraldo. Geraldo saw our anniversary desserts and started up a conversation with us. He is remarried and talked about how great it is. I had seen him break his watch on TV about 30 minutes earlier and told how I was a watch collector, and he spent a few minutes showing me his Cartier that he has had for over 45 years. See photo below. All in all it was one of our greatest dinners every. The owner dropped by several items to make sure everything was perfect and we were surprised that he gave us as much attention an any of the celebs or his family next to us. They really made us feel special and the food, service, room and feel of the place is second to none. This is for sure in our top 3 restaurants and we will be back over and over again and will ask for Alan. Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 56 million views so far this year and we thank you for that. Read moreIt's time to celebrate on 52nd Street at one of New York City's most romantically and deliciously decadent restaurants, Fresco by Scotto! Some say you can't judge a book by its cover, and maybe so, however, the walk up to Fresco sure whets your appetite in anticipation. The streetscape just has you begging to go inside. And it was well worth it! The welcome by the front staff makes you immediately feel like you arrived at a great vacation destination. And take you away, the coveted sojourn continues. Music fills the air as an exuberant DJ entices you to jump up and start dancing while the Scottish waiter dazzled us with a sumptuous menu selection and specials. We decided to share a creamy burrata nestled in pumpkin seed pesto, and pomegranate, with a crisp herbed crostini. Delightful and refreshing especially when paired with a glass of good wine. We ordered the grilled Veal Chop Marsala and Duck Pappardelle. The veal Marsala glaze brought a great depth of flavor as did its excellent grill of it. The hand-made duck ragu was rich with mushrooms and white truffle oil as well as plentiful making it impossible to finish. Thank heaven for doggie bags but don't forget to turn in the valet ticket as you leave so you can pick up your edible treasures to be enjoyed at home. And forget about those calories now, be brave, go wild, and order dessert! I am so glad we did. The artful presentation would rival many found among those Michelin stars. Before we stood quite tall, their Rainbow Ice Cream Tower. Just an incredible delicious finish to a great meal. Whether you have something to celebrate or not, dining at Fresco's will make every meal a celebration in itself. So go make your reservation, what are you waiting...
Read moreI was incredibly disappointed by this venerable Italian restaurant. The evening started well enough, but we had a 9:30 reservation. That shouldn’t be a problem in NYC, but I have noticed a systemic restaurant problem all over the world concerning late dinner reservations. Management sends the staff home before all the diners have finished eating.
At Fresco by Sotto it was akin to an exodus from the kitchen, as dozens of staff walked through the dining room on their way out and home. A skeleton crew remained with 4 tables still dining. Everything went down hill at 10:00 PM. Our server, who was perfectly nice, forgot my burnt broccoli order. He also needed to be reminded three times about an additional glass of wine. Water glasses went unfilled. The table next to ours sent back a terribly fatty piece of meat because the kitchen staff didn’t get another piece of meat to grill. When 90 per cent of the staff has left, it sets a tone in a restaurant that the night is over. Things deteriorate rapidly.
Fresco by Scotto is a very expensive restaurant. Our salads cost $25.00 a piece. Fifth bucks for two salads! My Dover Sole was good, but for $58.00, it better be. Pasta was average, nothing special. We ordered two ricotta cheesecakes, and when the table next to us ordered the same dessert, I realized the server forgot the berries that go with the cheesecake. It was amateurish, especially when you consider the bill came to over $300.00 for two salads, two entrees, two desserts, one glass of wine and one cocktail. The food was mediocre and the service ludicrous, once the kitchen staff was dismissed. Our meals at both Il Gattopardo and Il Tinello were infinitely better and...
