I travel to nyc often and have stayed all over, but I think I've finally found my home away from home. This hotel is an absolute gem. The executive lounge was the perfect place to start and get work done between meetings for the week I was there. It is stocked with freshly grinded expresso, coffee, fantastic chips and cliff / granola bars, fruit, water, sift drinks, and more all day. At breakfast, add in a very large assortment of pasteries, yogurt, and more. The attendents are amazing. A 24-hour doorman is always there to welcome you (George is beyond amazing), the rooms are super special with fresh flowers and real paintings. There is plentyy of room and it is super swank in the best of ways. Everything is spotless and well cared for. I had an armoire that was probably 100 years old in my room, and it was in superb shape. Yes, character ages, but I simply love most everything about the hotel too. Super quiet even right next to the elevator yet central to everything you could want. More than 5 stars.

This location was picked by my employer because it’s next door to the offices where we were meeting. I wouldn’t have selected this on my own. If you like the stately, old, formal type of lodging you’ll love it. Not my vibe. The rooms aren’t really renovated to accommodate today’s traveler with devices. There were no outlets near the night stands or desk. Not that this is the hotels fault, but the people next to me played had the tv on all night. It was clear on the other side of the wall that the bed was on. Every sound from the tv was amplified through the wall. I called the front desk about 1:00 am and they called the neighbors. They turned off the tv but it was back on at 3:00 am. I got the worse nights sleep I’ve had in a long time. I was exhausted the next day.

This is the most recommendable hotel I have ever stayed with. The small staff works tirelessly with pride to provide you with everything you need to enjoy your stay in the city. After one week with the Hotel Elysee, I realized that it is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan.

The second story club room which offers up close views of the street below is one of those rare places that you can sit back and relax and watch the craziness below. If you go in the afternoon, the club room will be filled with conversation, laughter, and the clinging of wine glasses. If you are lucky, someone might even sit behind the piano and play a few songs for everyone. In the morning, the club room is full of sleepy travelers filling up on coffee and pastries.

The bell-staff seemed to be a very tight knit group. Every other day I would see the same faces behind the desk which granted a comfortable "at home" feeling when I would arrive back at the hotel.

Upon arrival, my new wife and I found that the Hotel Elysee had taken extra measures to make sure we had an extraordinary honeymoon. We were so impressed by the old-fashioned generosity and kindness shown to us every day of our stay. Even on the last day, the bellman out front took the initiative of loading our belongings into the town car that was to take us to the airport even though we were still 10 minutes away stuck in traffic trying to get back.

If you are a person passing through on business who just wants to stay in any hotel, doesn't want to be cared for by a personable staff, and doesn't want to get to know and share stories with your hotel-mates in the club room, then stay somewhere else! HOWEVER:

If you are someone who appreciates the little things, you will not find a hotel that pays attention to detail like the Hotel Elysee. If you are looking to have a memorable stay at a novel hotel, stay at the Hotel Elysee. They take pride in what they do and they will do everything they can to care for you. I am confident that you will be...

This is one of my favorite hotels in New York yet this visit was not a good one. Note: Tell this hotel ALL your preferences. Don’t just check boxes. I was upgraded! Yet my upgrade was to a king bed. I am 5’1” tall. I had to get out of bed to check my phone as the only outlets were on the other side of the bed away from the bathroom.||I asked for the room I had requested after hearing I had to wait an hour for my upgrade to be ready. The desk clerk selected a room right next to the elevator at the back of the building. When I rejected it the desk clerk said I should have been explicit on my preferences when I reserved. ||The upgrade is two doors from the elevator. This is a boutique hotel in a group (The Library Collection) where I have stayed for over twenty years a couple of times a year. The desk clerk, AJ, must have been really tired from checking in quite a few couples while I waited over 45 minutes for my “upgrade”. When I again requested a room he informed me he was not required to give me a room before 3pm. It was 2:55 at this point. He told me to sit down and he would let me know when my upgrade was ready. The upgrade turned out to be two doors (10’) from the elevator at the back of the building with no natural light and the “upgrade” was to a king bed for a single person 5’1” tall. ||Hotels! If you are going to offer an unexpected upgrade to a loyal customer of 20 years ASK what they consider an upgrade. My 5’10” friend got a Queen Deluxe with a sitting area at the front of the hotel. We had both asked for Queen Deluxe. It was her first visit so I am happy for her that she got the nicer room as I had selected the hotel. ||Also be aware they add a temporary charge for $50 PER NIGHT...

This is an old school New York hotel with an excellent location, outstanding service, classic vibe with rooms, that, while a little dated compared to hotels that aren't almost 100 years old, still deliver a comfortable stay and a good value for the area.

From the doorman to the front desk to the elevators with tapestry cushioned walls to the narrow halls, there's a distinctly old school give in this classic. The rooms are small but decently appointed in an old fashioned way. Giant closet, tiny TV. Not many plugs, about a clock radio (does anyone under 70 need a radio taking up a plug in a hotel room in 2024? Small bathroom, big tub and shower with good pressure and lots of hot water. The AC kept the room chilly on a super hot and humid day, but the covers were super warm to stay under if that's what you needed.

The refrigerator didn't work, but you could get an ice bucket. If you called down, they'll bring it up to you and change it out with the one you have in the room. Again, first class service.

You pay a $25 per person "club fee" to be able to access a nice library room on the second floor with lots of tables, and snacks and drinks at your disposal that you can just take away (whatever you want). There is a continental breakfast in the morning as well, with different types of coffee, juices fruit, Clif bars, Boston cream, pastry, muffins, etc. no waffles or other buffet type items that you might see in different hotels, but you certainly have the opportunity to fill up.

Overall, the hotel is an experience unto itself. Unique. Fun. Old school. Classy. Excellent service and traditional amenities in an awesome location for a good price. I would stay again...
