UPDATE May 2024
Yesterday we had a terrible experience with delivery from Fukurou. We ordered from their website (not via Uber Eats) at 7:30pm and did not receive half our order until 11pm. The first driver delivered our ramen (dish 1/2) but said that the curry (dish 2/2) “fell out of the bag”. It’s unclear whether this was a mistake on the driver or restaurant’s part (maybe he dropped it or it wasn’t packaged properly). Regardless it wasn’t the fact that the item was missing (things happen!) that was upsetting but the way the restaurant responded when I called for help. The person who answered was very dismissive and rude, putting me on hold without saying anything and then abruptly hanging up on me when I called back for an update after not hearing anything for 15 minutes.
Ultimately we did get the curry. There was no compensation or even an apology, we just ended up with what we initially ordered after four frustrating phone calls and two hours of back-and-forth with the restaurant and Sauce (the third party company that powers their delivery).
In the past few months my partner and I have collectively ordered from Fukurou over 10 times, directly from the site and also on Uber Eats. The food is always good and I still want to continue supporting this place, but yesterday’s experience was a big unexpected disappointment. I did not expect we would be treated this way as loyal repeat customers; if they had just been kinder while handling this situation it wouldn’t have been a problem.
—— Original review: Ordered from here twice and had a great experience both times! We tried the pork katsu curry, spicy tonkotsu ramen, and miso chicken ramen. All three dishes were tasty and they did not skimp on the protein at all, which was very much appreciated. Will definitely be ordering from...
Read moreOrdered the spicy salmon miso ($22.95!, based on waiters recco) and the salmon came out and it was huge and impressive. But upon eating it, it was sitting in hot broth, still cold, overcooked, dry, and unseasoned. I asked for a new one thinking it was just a bad batch but it came out a second time (5 min which for a thick salmon filet is not enough time to cook) less overcooked but more cold. The salmon must be prepoached and then microwaved. Other reviews have mentioned a low quality noodle texture and I thought they were being dramatic but I have to agree. The texture was like overcooked packaged ramen with barely any chew. I hate to leave a bad review, the staff were all very NICE, but for the price I would at least expect the salmon to be fresh and noodles cooked correctly. Also got the pork and it was a large piece but it was so dry and tough it was difficult to bite into. To add scallions to ramen it was $2, you best believe I rationed the scallions on the chicken karage garnish. Other than that the chicken karage was good. (Update: woke up with food poisoning, please cook the salmon to temp this can make...
Read moreWent here for dinner last night. There are some nice redeeming qualities about this place-
Nice servers Tasty broth Good pork belly Fresh interior (newly painted, nice holiday decorations)
However I would not go back and was disappointed with-
Broth was warm not hot. It came out very quickly. For me, soup needs to come out hot.
Noodles were poor quality. They tasted the same and had the same consistency as top ramen. The broth (although luke warm) and pork belly was good, I wish they would choose a better quality premade noodle.
Menu online is not what they have in the restaurant. The pics online are deceiving, they have only one vegetarian ramen and not as many options as online shows. The menu at the restaurant had a lot of dishes crossed out and prices changed in marker. I like “real menus” and not QR codes however if the menus are going to be all crossed out and written on like this it just makes the restaurant look trashy.
I think this place is new and I hope they gain their footing as it has so much potential but just isn’t executing...
