Giovanni's — Restaurant in New York

I will start off with the food was ok but the service was the ABSOLUTE WORST! To start I planned a staff appreciation event for 19 employees. I had called a week in advance and went over the al la carte menus. I was told I had a choice of 3 appetizers 1 salad, choice of 3 pastas, choice of 3 entrees and assorted desserts. I planned the menu over the phone as was told that I had to come in person to present my credit card. 1st red flag. I go 2 days later and they can’t find my menu, I reluctantly give my card for the $ 500 deposit. The day prior to the event they are calling asking me what did I order - 2 red flag.. Since I’m nervous about the event, I call the morning of and give them my order again. At the event they then tell me that no pasta is included for $68.25 per person WHAT!! I do not make a scene when I’m presented with a total bill of 1,585.00, instead on Monday I call leave messages until finally I reach Nick on Thursday ,who further insults me by saying that” it’s not true that we were told pasta was not included,and that he can not remember if we were served it or not.” I requested that he provide me with $10.00 discount per person for a total of 180.00 refund, he further insults me by saying @I can give you 2 pizza pies .” for a staff of 20 that I would have to pick up. No thank you, he then calls me back at 556 pm and asks why did I not entertain his insult and accept the 2 pizza pies.

My recommendation is this is not a business that supports other businesses in the community. Save your money, and spare yourself the aggravation by going somewhere where you will be treated...

I would advise NOT to go here. I was completely dissatisfied and disappointed in the service here at Giovanni. We went downstairs to dine in. We were not seated and I asked the bus boy do we just pick a seat he uncaringly said “yeah”. We sat there for a little while unattended so I got up and got the menu myself (assuming the ignoring attitude of the staff is because they’re short staff, sooo ok). My friend and I sat there about 10 minutes and were not addressed. We made eye contact with the waiters that were congregating on the side and she stopped talking to her co-worker and walked past us without acknowledging us EVEN though we said in a friendly voice “we’re ready”. She eventually came to our table took our order and brought us bread and oil. We sat there an additional 20 minutes without drink or our order. So here’s where things go waaaaay LEFT! Two Caucasians come in, they were immediately seated, given a menu, and poured water. Then the waiter went back to the bartender area to make their drink! I could NOT in good conscience continue to sit there and spend more time and/ or eventually my money. My money is green just as well as theirs. Before I left I wanted to communicate this to the manager. He was dismissive stating he’s sorry it seemed that way…. Seemed that way??? Really? I explained to him; sir, our money is green just as well as theirs is and we should be respected as well and treated just the same. I would advise NOT to go there if the hand that gives them the green money has melanin. P.S. oh I have to add there was an eyelash...

Update 2025 June 8 I called to order a large pie and a 10 piece wings the girl I spoke with seemed nice and all I told her I wanted mild wings she said it’s like bbq sauce I said ok I want the spicy buffalo ones I hate bbq sauce she said ok I repeat the order 4 times to make sure she got it she repeated it 2 times I said ok total was 46$ husband went to pick it up and came home I opened the bag and I could smell the bbq sauce I looked at the wings color was burgundy because it was not the buffalo wings I ordered I called 5 times no one picked up my call husband called 4 times later nothing we did not eat them horrible I even repeated the order because I did not want her to mess it up I worked in a restaurant so I know I won’t be ordering again also the pizza sauce was very salty not sure why I like better the Giovanni’s in 167 pizza was 23$ wings 20$

2018 Love going to this place well sometimes the drinks are great sometimes too strong sometimes not good the problem is that they change their bartenders all the time and not sure if they don’t know the measurements for the ounces of liquor or champagne I love their champagne cosmopolitan their food is always good love their cannolis very tasty also one time I went with my sister and they told us the sitting downstairs was close because of a family reunion from one of the managers we sat up next to the pizzeria and there was only one waiter there he was completely going crazy he had a full house and the lower part of the restaurant had all the other waiters...
