This place has really has gone down. I stopped going because lunch was pretty mediocre for the expensive price. Decided to try breakfast. You can’t even get someone to look at you. Tried to stop at the hot breakfast bar and now one ever came out the back and you can hear them. Made eye contact with an employee standing there and she just looked away and kept stocking. Waiting for about 5 mins and just left.
Went again today and there was a woman stocking the hot sandwiches which is usually the person that works the breakfast bar. I was standing there waiting while she finished up. I had to move back from the bar for her to pass me and put the sheet tray back behind the bar. She never came back out. It’s like they don’t check. Again same girl stocking looking up and away. Waited a little longer this time because I’m like someone actually saw me from the back. Never came out. Finally another customer asked the girl stocking if someone is back there. She said oh she must be downstairs. Then proceeds to help up. Which means she could have helped me last week. These are the type of employees that are just there for the check and just get through the day. Customer service is terrible. I’ll stick to H Mart and Morton Supermarket...
Read more12/10/2022, Saturday: This Gourmet Garage at W66th street between Broadway and Amsterdam is the only one that features the famed Orwasher's Bakery founded in 1916. This includes a large selection of sourdough breads with different types of whole grains, many which are nongmo/organic and sourced locally from NY State and even the jams used are sourced from NY State farms. The Orwasher selection also includes croissants, muffins, doughnuts, cookies, and varieties of bagels (Bialy) with real onions. I believe they are baked fresh and brought in daily from the upper east side or the bronx. Other Orwasher's locations are further north in the Upper West Side or Upper East side. My favorites are the spelt/raisin unlevained bread and swiss health unlevained bread and the ultimate whole wheat sourdough, and pumpernickel walnut...
Read moreLook. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium products. However the customer service here is abysmal. There are always 3 or 4 employees standing around chatting amoung themselves and not paying attention. Their policy of outright REFUSING to give you a bag until you have completely unpacked the entire contents of your (often very full) basket onto the little shelf and gone through literally the entire checkout process with them standing behind you making sarcastic comments is the most frustrating part of my day when I go there. It's almost not worth going there. I've even tried giving them 5c coin in advance to prove I'm not trying to avoid paying 5c but the process of unpacking and balancing everything only to have to repack it when you asked for a bag 5 minutes ago is ridiculous. Go to...
