Lord, the headache this place caused me and my family. The only saving grace was the awesome bartender and the evening manager. I forgot his name, but he was a really buff, tall dark skinned man. They overheard that I was getting married the next day, and they basically comped one of my drinks.
We stayed at this hotel because it's close to the port, and my wedding was going to be on the ship at about 10:00 a.m. the next day. Meaning we would have to be at the port by 9:00 a.m.
Naturally this means that I was having professional makeup artists come in to do my hair and makeup in the morning of the wedding. The makeup artists needed one bar stool to do what they had to do.
So of course, we courteously called the hotel ahead of time when making the reservation to make sure that we were able to borrow a high top stool from them at around 6:00 a.m. in the morning, to be returned around 9:00 a.m. Three measly hours.
After a long back and forth with the agent, they finally got a hold of the manager, and the manager said it would be okay. Awesome, great!
We also took the time to mention the bar stool when we checked in the day before the wedding. They said it wouldn't be a problem. Awesome, great!
Here comes the day of the wedding, and they are fighting with us over the phone over this g** bar stool, because supposedly the manager was not in for the morning yet in order to approve giving us the precious bar stool. My question is why wasn't this noted on our account or something, anything?
Lord have mercy. I think everybody's goal for a wedding is to not stress the already stressed bride out. I had to go down there at the crack of dawn personally just to talk them into giving me this stool.
Is he really that serious folks? If the precious stool magically goes missing or gets injured, go ahead and charge me for it instead of having all this back and forth nonsense.
This is not to mention the day we arrived to the hotel. Since we were going on a 10-day cruise, you can only imagine the mountain of luggage that we had between the four of us. There was no bellhop anywhere to be seen. My aunt had to go inside and grab the dolly herself, wheel it up the slope, then we had to load it, and we even had to haul that thing into the tiny door, through the tiny hallway, into the tiny elevator and bring it up to our room.
There was plenty of staff just standing around quite literally doing nothing, while we were fighting with this bellhop dolly. One of the guys standing around told us where the elevator was and that was about it. They weren't helpful at all.
With all that being said, the room was nice, although tiny, and everything was clean. Thank goodness for...
Read moreThis is likely the worst hotel stay we’ve had in 5+ years. We arrived late on Wednesday, and there was no air conditioning nor running water or working phone. Additionally, there seemed to be only one working elevator - and “working” is a strong word, as it took nearly 15 minutes to call the elevator to our floor and get up/down. Our room was on the 11th floor and blazing hot. We were unable to call down (via cellphone) to the front desk, as no one answered after multiple attempts. So, we had to return to the front desk to speak with someone in person. When we spoke to them, they assured us that the power/water would be back on shortly. Spoiler: that was false. We spent the night tossing and turning due to the heat and grainy (???) sheets. When we left to go out and about, a new front desk individual let us know that there were technicians arriving at 3pm (Thursday). We left, and came back at 10:30 that night (after, again, trying to call the front desk which failed). When we arrived, there was still no water, no phone, and no air conditioning. So, we went back down to the front desk, and another individual assured (once again) that there was someone onsite that evening working on it, and that they wouldn’t leave until the issue was resolved. We - naively - took her at her word, and told ourselves we would give it one more night. Fast forward to 2:45am of Friday, and the problem had only gotten worse (80+ degrees in our hotel room and no hot water). We pack our bags (after AGAIN failing to reach someone via phone at the front desk) and book a hotel elsewhere. The individual at the front desk, when we were checking out assured us that: (a) we had, indeed, been checked out and would receive our receipt via email shortly; and (b) we would not be charged for Thursday night. We made it to the IHG hotel, and after sleeping in a hotel room with basic necessities, we realized that: (1) we HS not been sent a receipt; and (2) in our haste, we had left personal items in one of the only two bedside tables. We called the the Marriott, and oddly enough someone answered the phone at the front desk (I guess if you’re not staying at the hotel, they’re more attentive?)! We explained the situation (re: not checking out and missing items). She responded that the individual last night he failed to check us out, and that she would call us back once they had checked the nightstand (which we pointed her to). Two hours pass by … no return call. So, we had - ONCE...
Read moreAs soon as we walked into our room there was a moldy smell. Since we arrived at night we notified the front desk the next morning. Someone came to smell the room and told us to have the room serviced and if the smell continued to let them know. We received a call the next day asking if the room could be serviced. We told them we would be leaving in an hour and that we still wanted the room to be cleaned. We were out for the rest of the day, and when we arrived that night the room still had not been serviced and the smell was still there. We phoned the front desk to let them know the problem. A maintenance man came up and also smelled the odor. He suggested we air it out by opening the windows, and was kind enough to take our dirty towels out of the room. We soon received a call from the front desk offering us the room next door for our last nights stay. They were kind, and seemed willing to help. We agreed to move. And as we walked into the room we could tell that the overall room looked and smelled way cleaner. It was late, so put our things away and went to shower. As we entered the shower we noticed how dirty it was. The bathroom from the first room wasn’t the most polished looking either. In fact we stood on top of a towel whenever we showered during our stay. But, the bathroom in the second room was most definitely worse. The grout on the edges of the shower had black grit or what looks like mold. And an orange rust was building up in the sliding glass door. The worst part was that there was hair on the shower floor prior to us using it. It looks as if the staff does a brief cleaning on the floors, but nothing in depth. The corners of the bathroom and the both from door were also dirty and the shelves in both rooms were dusty as well. Being that it was late and our last night at the hotel, we went to bed. I should add that the bed sheet was inside out. It also didn’t fit the bed well and moving around in the bed would cause it to slip off. However, the bed sheets looked and felt clean in both rooms. And I appreciate the fact that the mattresses were covered. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights rest. The next morning we were in a hurry to leave, but we began to smell the same odor near the windows and shades as we were heading out. Being that we were in a rush, I didn’t get to speak to the staff about the dirty bathroom, and somewhat unclean floors. To add, the WiFi would not work in either room, but the breakfast...
