I recently visited Halal Diner Restaurant at 8447 Parsons Blvd in Jamaica, NY, and I am thrilled to share my outstanding experience with everyone. This Bangladeshi-owned restaurant serves an exquisite array of Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian dishes that tantalized my taste buds and left me craving more.
The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean, with a well-sized dining area that can comfortably accommodate about 30 people. The table and seating arrangements were perfect, while the modest yet relaxing decorations created an inviting atmosphere. The owner and operators were incredibly courteous and took the time to explain the various dishes on offer, which I greatly appreciated.
Service at Halal Diner was both speedy and efficient, and the portion sizes were more than generous. The prices were surprisingly affordable, especially considering the restaurant's location in New York City. I also had no trouble finding parking on the nearby streets, which was a welcome bonus.
The drink selection was satisfying, with my drink arriving at the perfect temperature for enjoyment. I indulged in rice pudding for dessert, accompanied by a perfectly brewed tea, which was the ideal ending to my meal. The restroom facilities were spotless and well-maintained, offering both hot and cold running water.
Though the restaurant is not situated near any subway stations, it is accessible by public buses. It may be a bit remote for those traveling from other boroughs using public transportation, but I assure you, it is well worth the journey.
My party and I opted for the Family Combo, which featured chicken and beef kofta, and beef and lamb tikka served on a bed of rice with bread. The dish was absolutely delicious and more than enough to satisfy our group of six. The ambiance was peaceful and quiet, allowing for enjoyable conversation during our meal.
In addition to the combo, Halal Diner offers a variety of dishes such as Kabab (beef, lamb chops, and chicken), Chef Special (lamb, beef, chicken, and fish burgers), Vegetarian options like Chana Shag (Chick Pea and Spinach), and Seafood dishes like Tilapia Fish and fried shrimp. They also serve seasonal and Greek salads, naan, soup, and a variety of appetizers, including Hummus and Vegetable and Chicken Samosa. The chicken Samosa I tried was absolutely divine!
In summary, I cannot recommend Halal Diner Restaurant enough. If you're looking for a hidden gem that offers authentic and delicious Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian cuisine, look no further than this outstanding establishment. You will not be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant owned by a Bengali proprietor, specializing in halal Afghan cuisine. My dining experience offered a mix of culinary delights and unexpected generosity.
The food served here truly stands out. We sampled a variety of dishes, including beef, chicken, lamb tikka, and kofta. Each dish was a flavorful testament to the chefs' expertise. The rich blend of spices and the tenderness of the meats left a lasting impression.
In terms of service, it was adequate but could benefit from a bit more attention to detail. The atmosphere was decent, providing a suitable backdrop for the meal, though it didn't particularly excel.
One noteworthy aspect of this restaurant is its commitment to halal food, ensuring a welcoming dining experience for diverse guests.
To our pleasant surprise, the dessert, "firni," was offered free of charge. This added generosity certainly enhanced our dining experience and added extra value to our visit to the restaurant.
In summary, this restaurant offers a unique fusion of Bengali ownership and Afghan cuisine. The food is undoubtedly the highlight, showcasing a tantalizing blend of flavors. While the service and atmosphere are serviceable, they may not match the culinary excellence on offer. For those seeking a culinary adventure, it's worth exploring this establishment, especially with the delightful...
Read moreBeginning with the location, I do like itâs on the side and provides a bunch of parking. I ordered number 35 combo which was a lamb cut and the chicken tikka. I also wanted to order something that was filling, but not too expensive however they did not really have too many options other than their main entrĂ©es The combo itself lacked me, you got to skewers, but the skewers had only four pieces with each piece being quite small. Additionally, the white sauce that they provided tasted a bit sour, I wouldnât say sour to the point where itâs going bad, but just a flavor itself was a bit too sour. I also ordered like I said something that I wanted to be feeling so I ordered the nuggets and fries as expected, the nuggets and fries were frozen, which is usually understandable and a common thing among the restaurants near us, but the quantity was terrible. I believe there was literally only 10 fries or 15 in the box. I would say, though the price point was decent, but then you come to think about it. The quantity was not up to par as well so take it as you will. The owner was nice and the reason I give it three stars is because the food was edible at least and it taste it all right And...
